Hello 400!

Hello (for the 400th Time) M:R Nation –

I wanted to drop a quick line to commemorate my 400th blog posting! And I must admit, I really wanted to hit this number today, but  ran out of things to talk about.

When Ryan told me a short time ago that he wanted me to start “Blogging”, I really didn’t know what to think or where to start. It has certainly enhanced my creativity and has challenged me more that I every thought it would.

Celebrate+4001

Sure, 400 is a strange number to celebrate, but I find it an attractive number for some reason. So, I guess the only thing left to say is thank you M:R Nation for being such a great audience and here’s to another 400!

Cheers, Troy

I think it’s motorcycle riding weather!

Hello friends-

It was a special night last night as we closed up shop – Troy (our Mission Repair General Manager) asked me if I would give him a ride up to the Harley Store in Olathe so he could pick up his new ride!

Here’s Troy in the showroom in front of his beast. I think he was in a little “shock” here…

After ringing the bell and firing up his new hog, we hit the road. For those of you that live in “helmet law” states, please know that Troy is not riding illegally here in Kansas – helmets are not required even though we normally wear them. This pic without the helmet was purely for the “cool” factor!

So with all of the excitement and “new bike smell” one might ask “Ryan, did you buy a new bike last night too?” Just so you know I am a bit impulsive, I do like motorcycles, I do like looking cool…so I did what any other guy like me would do in this situation:

I ran out of the dealership as fast as I possibly could.

It’s a beautiful day outside today here in Kansas City, and we’re staffed and stocked at both of our Mission Repair locations so stop on by for that iPad, iPhone or Samsung Galaxy repair. We’ll take care of you!

Best, Ryan

Surf’s up! Get your snow gear on.

Aloha friends,

There’s some interesting weather happening around the country at the moment. Let’s take the weather in Spring Hill, Kansas for example. It’s cold this morning in my home town – in fact, so cold I have my thermostat set at 69 degrees, but it is only 66 degrees in the house. Apparently my furnace can’t keep up! We just aren’t built for this kind of cold I guess. It’s almost lunchtime and only 3 degrees outside; with windchill it’s -15. That’s cold enough to close a few schools in the area…the east coast is covered in snow as well.

I was talking to a friend of mine in Hawaii (did you know that I lived on Maui for a couple of years?) and she said that the waves are crashing in the north shores of all the islands. This is attracting surfers from everywhere to get in on the action!

Here’s a pic from yesterday afternoon of a 40 foot wave courtesy of @aloharoyale:

surf

Supposedly this is the biggest surf in over a decade. That’s exciting for some, but even when I lived there, and I was in the best shape of my life, and I swam every day, I would never tackle surf like this. Maybe I’m just not built for it…but I’ve been in 10 foot surf which is HUGE. 40 feet just spells doom for a guy like me!

Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to be sitting on the beach watching this 40 foot anomaly, but alass, I’m in my office clapping away at the keyboard. Oh well, there will be time for vacation fun soon, today I just need to plan on staying warm if I can so that’s what I’m going to focus on!

What to do? It’s given me some great ideas on a few minor changes to our Mission Repair website and some pricing that was due to change. So starting today, you’ll see a wave of markdowns on a few key services and repairs (Samsung Galaxy SIII glass repair for example) so Troy and I will post those price changes today.

Stay tuned…stay warm, or if you’re in Hawaii, stay dry.

Take care, Ryan

We’ll be on NBC tonight!

Hello friends,

There’s no question that the weather in Kansas City is atrocious. Schools were cancelled today because of the extreme cold…not snow, but COLD. With the wind, apparently we are at about a -30 degrees this morning; of course by far the coldest that I’ve ever encountering in my 13 years in this area. Most long term locals are saying that they can’t remember when it was like this EVER in the past, so it’s new to all of us!

It can go away whenever it’s ready. I’m fine with freezing temperatures, but this is just life threatening and not doing us any good.

Well with this cold, clearly there are a lot of other “life issues” arising. Our local news team is here at the Mission Repair headquarters interviewing us and asking about how this cold weather can affect your cell phone. Did you know that Apple designates an operating temperature and can void your warranty if you leave your phone in your car? Want to learn more? Just watch the news tonight!

Since I normally take these interviews, I thought it would be a good time to give our General Manager Troy a shot at being on TV this afternoon. That’s right, our very own Troy Harris will be the star of the prime time news tonight on NBC. Don’t worry, if you miss the broadcast, we’ll post it here tomorrow!

Have a great day, I sincerely hope your weather is warmer that it is here today…

Ryan

iPhone 5S. Glass is tougher; but…

Hi folks,

I’ve needed to take a 2 day hiatus from my blogging. That’s more like 2.5 days since it’s Wednesday afternoon and I’m just now getting to my first post of the week. Personally it was a tough weekend because I injured my back so I’ve been down and out for a couple of days – but today I’m moving around pretty good. I think I have a MILLION emails to attend to, so I need to make this post short and sweet.

We’ve already been seeing iPhone 5S with cracked glass come in. It’s true. Troy blogged and took a few pics start to finish about the 5S, and from a repair standpoint, this unit is not for the “weak” technician. I think that this service is going to separate the “men from the boys” because it’s just not as simple as one might think. For those trying to perform this repair, you’ll know exactly what i’m talking about soon!

iphone5s screen repair

Never fear, we are the Innovators in the Industry, and we’ve got this service solved and are performing these repairs while our customers wait. No appointment necessary!

We know that if you walk in to our store or call in for a mail-order repair from anywhere in the country to have your iPhone 5S screen repaired you’re not in a good place. The iPhone 5S screen is supposed to be tougher than it’s predecessors; and it probably is. It’s just not tough enough to drop on concrete. We can prove it and we wouldn’t dare demonstrate it.

Just remember Mission Repair when you’re in need of an iPhone repair. I’ve been performing iPhone repairs longer than anyone in the industry despite what any other repair center may claim. I know the business, understand our customers, and appreciate every one of them. That’s why we’ve been voted the #1 repair site for the 6th year in a row – isn’t it strange the the iPhone has also been out for 6 years now?

It’s no coincidence.

I’ll be back soon with more info from all of us at Mission Repair, and personally from me to you I hope your holiday season has started out on the right foot!

Take care, Ryan
