Yes, we ship to every location in the USA, let’s discuss the best deal.

Hello folks,

We ship using FedEx, UPS and USPS, and with thousands of shipments per month, we try our hardest to make sure that our customers get the best possible prices when shipping broken electronics in and out of one of our locations. We automatically route packages incoming to us to the location closest to you.

There’s a little known “trick” to help keep shipping costs down, let’s discuss. Here’s a screenshot from our checkout page:

Mission repair checkout page.

The big shipping carriers (i.e. FedEx) charge a bit more to deliver packages to your home. Yes, the majority of our repairs are sent directly back to our customer residences…but if you have your device sent back to your business address – many companies will allow their employees to do so – you will save up to $6 on one way of shipping!

The thought behind this is that carriers know that customers are not always home, therefore they will need to come back to reattempt delivery which costs time and money. Businesses however are typically open “during normal business hours” during the day, and the driver will only have to stop once and make the delivery and have someone sign for it.

That’s another small tidbit, you don’t need to add or pay for a signature request if your delivery is to a business; the big carriers already require a signature for security when packages are delivered to a business, so that’s just another item that you won’t need to pay for!

This entire scenario is NOT special to Mission Repair, however many of our customers don’t fully understand the shipping rules posed by the carriers, so I hope this helps you out.

Postal deliveries are a bit different. The United States Post Office (USPS) handles deliveries in a slightly different way, we can discuss that later.

Happy shipping, Ryan

We all need it overnight.

Hello friends-

Have you had to send anything overnight to anyone, anywhere recently? I just had to mail a letter (I’m talking USPS Priority Mail) to a P.O. Box, and when I went to our local Post Office, it cost me $24.85 to mail a letter (not even a package!) overnight to my recipient.

I was surprised at the amount. I mean this wasn’t a 10lb package, it was a letter for crying out loud. I understand that there are costs involved, especially when I requested OVERNIGHT service, but it just seemed high until I talked to the person beside me that said “if you send it FedEx, it would have been $60!”

keep-calm

Well, I would have sent it via FedEx from my office at Mission Repair, but FedEx doesn’t service overnight to Post Office Boxes. I had no choice but to use the Post Office. Why does the price seem high to me?

We send iPods, Tablets, Computers and a multitude of devices all over the country every day and we only charge $9.99 to send a 1 lb box anywhere in the USA. Well anywhere that’s not a P.O. box! That means any physical residential or commercial address. i.e. your house or work!

It’s $9.99 because we only are charged $9.99 from FedEx…

We don’t make any money on the shipment of course- we just pass the savings onto our customers that want and need overnight shipping. With the shear number of packages that we send we’ve been able to negotiate down our rates to astounding lows.

I spoke to a customer today that said “I live and die by my iPhone. I can’t be without it”. I can certainly understand the priority if you literally live and die by your device. Personally, if I lost my device I probably wouldn’t shed too many tears; in fact, a lot of my daily stress would probably go away. But to others, it their business, or their lifeline, or their only means of communication to the rest of the world and that’s why we offer overnight shipping options on all of our repairs. “Get ’em done fast” I always say.

It sounds like I could charge at least $24.85 for 1lb. overnight shipments…but I won’t. It doesn’t seem right to me so we’ll keep up the pace that we are currently at, and keep offering savings to our customers – which we know you like!

The last part of the rant today – it was about the line at the Post Office. Argh, I’ll save that for another blog!

Take care, have a great weekend. Ryan

INSURANCE REQUIRED? IT’S NOW YOUR CHOICE!

Hello M:R Nation –

We have made many changes already in 2014 and today, we are happy to announce our newest change!

For years, we have made it a requirement to have shipping insurance on all shipments. Even if our customers didn’t want it. While this was done with the protection of your package in mind, not everyone needs or feels that this requirement is necessary. Since we are all about choice here at Mission Repair, we decided to listen to our customers and finally give you a choice!

Unknown

You now have this option, right on the Mission Repair website! When you go to add your much needed iPad Mini or iPhone 4S repair to your cart, you will see multiple options, after you choose your inbound and outbound shipment choices, you will see a signature and shipping insurance options. You now have a “NO” and a “YES” choice.  By choosing “NO”, you agree to take responsibility for any damages that your box or device may receive in the transit of your shipment. By choosing “YES”, your shipment will be covered during “transit” which means once it leaves our facility and up to the point before Fedex leaves it on your doorstep. Also, if you are using a Mission Repair provided label to get your broken device to us, you are covered as well by choosing “YES”!

While we have very little issues with packages/devices not making it to their final destinations or damages occurring, you can never be too sure when shipping with any carrier. However, it’s your device and your budget. You should make this decision for yourself, not us.

So with that, please say hello to another change (for the better) here at Mission Repair in 2014!

Cheers, Troy
