I wonder sometimes; should I keep blogging?

We spend an awful lot of time around the Mission Repair headquarters deciding on what to blog about next and when. There are days that I wonder if it’s worth the work – I mean we have to stop what we are doing, come up with a topic, write about it, proofread it (I know we make mistakes – me especially), make sure the links are working and post it. There are times that I can knock out a few great blogs (like this morning) but other times issues throughout the day take precedence and inevitably take me off of my path.

whyblog

This morning I received an email from Lisa L., one of the Mission Repair Blog Subscribers…I’ll cut and paste the part that I found especially helpful:

“Hello Ryan, thanks for your blogs. I like when I open my mailbox to see if there are any specials. We have 9 apple devices in our home and my teenage son has already been back in your shop in Lakewood twice because he can’t seem to keep his i-pod from hitting the ground. He’s the starting running back on the Lakewood HS team and I hope he doesn’t drop the ball next year as much as he does his i-pod!! Thanks again, can I get the 4th of July special if I place my order monday?

Thanks, Lisa”

Just when I think “I wonder if it’s worth it?”, I get an email like this from a blog fan and my question is answered. It is worth the work, it defines Mission Repair and separates us from the competition – because these kinds of emails drive me to continue and validate our efforts.

So thank you Lisa for the awesome email. I know that I’ve already replied to you individually, but now I’m also commending you in front of all of our readers – there are over 960,000 unique readers by the way – I offer my sincere thanks for reaching out. Yes, we’ll be happy to extend our 15% off special if you’ll just give us a call Monday and I’ll be happy to give you the deal. Just tell your representative that I approved it! If they don’t believe you, just tell them to read this post 😉

Take care everyone, and have a great day.

Ryan

Mission Repair contruction – again. It seems to never stop but there’s a COUPON INSIDE!

Hello friends, it’s been a whirlwind week here at Mission Repair. I find myself saying that a lot, but truthfully we are really busy. In fact, Monday of this week April 6, 2015 – we had a record receiving day for repairs – the most in company history. More than Cyber Monday, Black Friday, or any other normal “big” day for us.

What was so special about April 6th? Not a thing that I can tell. We are working diligently on our marketing and trying a few new things…

Which leads me to our newest expansion. We are creating a new shipping and receiving room at our Corporate Headquarters in Olathe. We just need more space. Truth is that we are moving from one building to the next, but the shipping and receiving area that we have now if just too small for our needs. Hence the expansion. Luckily, we had the room…for the new room!

The sheetrock is up, and right now it’s in the “messy” stage with a lot of dust and debris everywhere. But once it’s done, we’ll have even better capabilities than before. Adding this 500 square feet of dedicated space will also help us stay organized, “on the ready” and will even keep our employees in a climate controlled room during the summer. We’ve tried to work in a space without air conditioning before, and it is just a little bit miserable in the summers.

What’s today’s coupon? If you’ve read this far you must be interested. Today and tomorrow, we are giving a 15% off coupon for all new orders placed online, over the phone or when you come into one of our locations. Just use the coupon “organize” and you’ll get 15% off your entire order. Coupon expires midnight 4/10/15, and cannot be combined with any other coupon or special, and is not available for “got repair” services. Questions? Give us a call at 866-638-8402.

Thanks, and have a great day.

Let’s celebrate! Mission Repair Lakewood is open and rocking!

Hello friends, thanks for your patience as we got our Colorado location up and running…and thank you to every one of our new customers (and 2 repeat customers) that came into the store yesterday! It’s great to see that we’re welcome here in the Denver area! Once we shut down, closed the doors, and revisited our day yesterday, I splurged with a toast to this Colorado crew.

Yes it’s true, we didn’t have formal glass stemware, no party favors or music, but we did get to celebrate a little as all of our efforts were realized at the end of the day.

Now it’s February 3rd, 2015 and we’re back at it from the Lakewood location until tomorrow afternoon. Some of us will be heading back to Olathe, Kansas tomorrow and back to the Corporate headquarters after we close tomorrow night. That will leave our crew here in Lakewood to do their thing…and it’s looking like we will be continuing to interview for the technician and customer service positions, so give us a call at 720-897-6297 to set up an interview if you’re interested!

Bobcat. Or something else?

Hello again blog readers-

Just one more quick blog today because I’ve been wracking my brain trying to figure this picture out. Let’s me give you some back story:

I live in Spring Hill, Kansas. It’s a small town, with no stop lights, and about 3,000 people. Don’t let that “small town” story fool you though – I’m from the Bay Area, worked in Oakland, San Leandro, Concord, Fremont and lived in the same areas for most of my life. But the last decade I’ve spent in a little town and loving it.

I’ve gotten used to the feel and the quietness. I live at the end of a road – which backs up to some “wilderness” and a pond. I have a couple of dogs that I like to spend time with out there and we can hear the coyotes at night.

Finally, I keep a couple of “game” cameras set up in my yard, firstly for security so I can see who’s coming and going, but also to see what kind of animals might be sniffing around. Two nights ago, my camera caught this picture at 3:54am, you can click on it to get a bigger image:

It only takes a picture when it detects movement. And if you look in the center, almost all the way to the bottom of the picture, you’ll see a creature walking up my driveway from the street. That’s my neighbor’s house that you see in the background…the wilderness is behind the camera.

Do you see it? What is that? It’s not a house cat. NO WAY. It’s almost as big as the entire width of the sidewalk. It’s not a dog, it definitely looks “feline”. It’s got to be a bobcat, right?

I spend a lot of time outside and in the wild, and rarely have a seen one of these guys roaming the countryside. They are nocturnal, and fierce carnivores known to take down prey larger than them. So it gets me thinking, what else is out there? I’ll post more pics as I get them, I’m hoping to ge a shot of the “Great North Western Spring Hill Sasquatch” some day. If I get that, I’ll let you know!

On a business note at Mission Repair, we’ve got a fantastic newsletter that will be delivered here shortly with some amazing deals. If you’re not already signed up, you can do so here!

Thanks, talk to you again soon. Ryan
