I walked into my Mission store and saw this:

Hello there friends,

I made a surprise visit to my Mission location yesterday..unannounced…and found my guys watching cartoons!  Yeah, you may know it.  It was “He-Man” from the 1980’s!

Just as I was getting close to letting my team hear an earful, I calmly asked “why is He-Man running on this customer’s MacBook?”  I’m a fair guy.  I don’t mind the employees listening to music while they work, or even tune the radio to AM to listen to a Royals games now and again.  But watching cartoons while you’re on the clock?  It ain’t happening.  I was looking for the ring leader.

Carl stepped up and said “It’s me.”  Mmmm boy, here we go!

“Ryan, this customer was having issues with Youtube shutting down randomly, and I’ve pinpointed it to the RAM in this unit.  I diagnosed it, tried it myself after I was able to duplicate the issue, and now it appears to be solved.  I’m now running the first long video that I could find, and He-Man was it.”  He goes on to say “It’s been running for a long time, but this is a 10-hour marathon and I wanted to make sure that our customer didn’t have the same issue after I repaired the computer.”

Well then.  I grabbed a large piece of humble pie and took a bite.  Those guys weren’t messing around.  They were testing a repair.  GREAT!

That means apparently I do condone cartoons while we’re on the clock.  As long as you tell me it’s for “testing” purposes, that’s all I need to hear!

Bonus points…what was He-Man’s tag line? I HAVE THE POWER!”  I can personally remember that opening sequence of the cartoon, apparently it’s a keeper in my mental files.

So rest knowing that if you bring your MacBook Pro in for repair: we may watch some cartoons on it.  But it’s for a good cause, and this customer was thrilled that we did.  It’s a highly technical operation, but someone has to do it 😉

Take care, Ryan

Ok, you want more deals of the month? Here you go.

Well I could just stop at one…but the blogger in me says to “keep typing!”

So we’re lowering our price on another popular repair for the iPad with Retina glass replacement service.  This is also known as the 4th generation iPad (it’s a full-sized iPad, not a mini) and we receive these by the truckload from schools around the country.

Now’s the time to grab a special on this repair with no coupon needed!

I mentioned it in my last blog that this is a leap year.  So February gets an extra day of fun in it; I like that because it extends the month a bit and makes things easier on the business (this special runs until 2/29/16!).  It’s also a fun day that I’ve only seen 10 of in my life so far; 10 leap years.  Yikes.  I have a good friend that was born on leap year so we will be celebrating with her soon; she turns 40 years old, but is only 10 in leap years.  She’s such a youngster.

Take care, and send us an email if you have any questions about our services.

Now that’s what a cracked iPad looks like.

Good morning,

Every now and again I’ll snap a picture of a device that we receive for repair and share it here on the blog.  Some are normal “cracks” and bends; others are smashed up pretty good.  For some reason, my blog readers love looking at smashed units…so Carl at my Mission, Kansas store sent this picture to me last night:

Now that’s what a cracked iPad is supposed to look like, right?

I often wonder how these things happen…obviously this unit was dropped…but the exact story gets lost in the repair sometimes.  This unit appears to have been “dragged” along the concrete, like it fell off the roof of a car or slid down the driveway.  Most of the time, it doesn’t matter to us “how” it happened, but knowing sometimes satisfies the curiosity!

Have a cracked iPad Screen?  No problem.  We will take care of that repair for you, just drive on down to one of our locations (no appointment necessary) or give us a call and we’ll send FedEx to pick it up from your location anywhere in the USA.  Yes, even where you live, wherever that may be.

It’s a little treacherous out there.

Hi there,

I’m sitting here in my front office at Mission Repair in Lenexa, Kansas and the snow just started to fall.  Soon after, I heard lots of sirens and can see the commotion rumbling just down the street.  The weather is starting to hit us, and the freezing rain is really what is causing the issue.  Cars are starting to slide all over the place!

Here’s a pic out into the parking lot as we speak:

I know that it doesn’t look like much, but that little bit of snow on top of the slick roads makes a dangerous situation.   It looks like I should probably put it into 4 wheel drive for a little while unit the road crews get their act together.

We’ve have several people come in during the “mess”.  I want to remind everyone that we are open until 7 pm, and if is suits your lifestyle to wait until the roads as a little better, then I recommend that you hang tight in your warm houses and offices while KDOT gets the plows up and down the highway.  I bet that by 5 pm today it’ll be just fine to move around the area.

Thanks again and drive safe everyone!

Winter is hitting Kansas City today!

Hello there friends,

I was just watching the news and the weather report came up; it’s not looking good here in Kansas City over the next couple of days. Get out the winter coats!!

gloves

Apparently this weekend it will be 8 degrees F on Sunday morning, and with the wind chill it’s going to feel like minus 10.

Minus 10?  That’s just a bit too cold for me.  I’m a California boy originally and while I do love Kansas, it’s these days that really seem to make me rethink moving back to the beach.

I considered that very move about 8 years ago, but talked myself into riding out the Kansas experience.  Too much more of this and I’ll be packing my board shorts and flip flops for somewhere warmer.  Do you have a room to rent?  🙂

Ah, it’s just Mother Nature stepping in to do her duty, and I can appreciate that.  I’ll ride this one out, I’m not working this weekend anyway so I can curl up and cocoon myself in the house.  Stay warm wherever you are; I have some friends that live in Florida that keep sending me pictures of the thermometer.  I get it…it’s warm.  Thanks!

Take care, Ryan
