It’s a sign.

Hello there, good morning blog readers!

Good news about my new location in Colorado, and we’re now officially “Finished” with this site. The new sign went up on Saturday!

missionrepairsign

I know, it’s just a sign. However this is a new venture for me because normally our signs are pretty simple and constrained by the city in which we reside, or the building limitations, or some other factors.

My Corporate headquarters and flagship retail store in Lakewood Colorado has what I would consider a “real” sign that’s LED lit and ready for action!

The process is not an easy one; personally I take business signs for granted and don’t think twice about them when I see them. Now that I’ve been in the “sign market” for about a year ordering, designing and having signs installed on our Mission Repair locations, it’s a task all in itself!

At this location, the fruits of my labor have paid off, and we can put this project to bed. See you in the store!!

Take care, Ryan

My dog ate my homework – and my iPhone?

Hello there, this isn’t a new joke, I understand that. “My dog ate my homework” has been used as an excuse to get out of turning in assignments in class. But “my dog ate my iPhone” is a newer concept. Do these things taste good?

I’m, not sure if this device was actually eaten by a dog, but it’s definitely something that needs to be repaired…and repaired fast! We’ve got the team to do it; this phone will certainly need a new front glass and back case and Lennie is on it right now.

If you find yourself with a device that’s been “mangled”, just give us a call. We’ll do what we can to get you back into shape.

Take care, Ryan

“But there’s a guy repairing iPhones on Craigslist that’s $10 cheaper”.

Hi again everyone…we hear it every day.

Yes there probably is a guy on Craigslist offering iPhone Repairs and his advertisements sound appealing…check out this example (you can click on it to get a closer look):

iPhone Repairs – This guy knows more about phones than ANYONE else!

Yes, that’s a nice line of phone repairs. I especially like the tag line at the bottom “Won’t find anyone else that knows more than me in town”. That’s a bold statement!

Then there are random other ads like this one right in our home town:

iphonescreenrepair

Watch out for illegal parts!

Please don’t ask about color conversion, Red, blue, pink etc – because these are counterfeit parts and illegal for sale! I would most certainly stay away from anyone selling or touting illegal parts. Apple never made a pink iPhone so how is this guy getting trustworthy parts for it?!?

What you’ll find when you call these ads in many cases is a person performing repairs and services on the “side” – which can be ok – if you don’t mind risking your device to an individual that you might not ever be able to get a hold of again or worse – may damage your unit beyond repair and also take your money. With all of the scares about Craigslist and the number of police reports about fraud, thefts and physical bodily harm that can come from meeting someone on Craigslist…it’s just not worth the $10 savings that you might receive in my opinion!

The truth of the matter is that most of these “businesses” are NOT legitimate. Some are, but anyone doing repairs in their spare time and making money…needs to have a business license, pay taxes, provide receipts and a long list of other requirements just to operate LEGALLY. A legally operated business will stand behind their services, have a business entity established and reports their income to the IRS.

Think about it- if you deal with a person that doesn’t report their income to the IRS, which is illegal by the way, there’s very little accountability for them to do the right thing.

The point of this post is that we here at Mission Repair do operate “above the table”. That is, we do have an established business entity with a Federal Employer Identification Number, we do pay our taxes, we do have a physical location, we do have a toll-free customer service line that is answered 7 days a week and we do care about our customers.

So how do we combat the “lower priced” guys on Craigslist? When confronted with an ad for a service that we offer that is lower priced the sell is easy- we just explain that we offer 1 year warranties, our Got Repair benefits that come with each screen repair, we are always available 7 days a week for our customers and that we encourage walk-in business without an appointment. The bottom line is that we’ve are approaching 200,000 completed repairs at Mission Repair and we have the talent to back up our claims!

If a customer still chooses to use someone on Craigslist, that is fine with us. However we have fixed countless “Craigslist Repairs” for customers. Buyer beware!

Ok, that’s enough bashing on Craigslist. In fact, it’s not Craigslist that is the issue, because I use it from time to time. Last year I bought my son’s vehicle on there and it turned out to be a great deal!

Last tidbit- it’s not always cheaper on CL…that last ad above that touts $39 iPhone Screen repair…we perform the same repair at Mission Repair for $29. It DOES pay to shop around!

Have a great day, Ryan

What is Labor Day at Mission Repair? Coupon inside!

Hello there everyone and happy Friday!

We are closing up a record month here at Mission Repair. We had another new employee start today on our production line. . .not only a record month in sales, but a record month in new employees starting. I always told myself that once I can’t remember everyone’s name, I know that we’ve made it big.

Well Adam started today so my “name memory” is still working fine 😉 I think that once we get to 50 employees I may start to become “forgetful”. I pride myself in knowing who’s-who and what’s-what in my business; but once I got over 30 employees I noticed myself losing grasp on a few things. It’s OK, that’s what my managers are for, right?!? I just have to learn to let go of certain tasks. It’s change that’s the hardest, but it’s also a ton of fun.

Speaking of employees, everyone is getting a well-deserved day off on Monday for Labor Day. You may ask: “What is Labor Day?”

Well there is an official definition that is something about a workers strike back in the 1800’s and it quickly became a National holiday soon thereafter. Others say that they recognize it merely as the beginning of the school year…or the official end of the summer. Of course it’s is typically the last day that the city pools are open for the year.

At Mission Repair, we celebrate it just like many other retailers and online businesses do – we have a sale!

So what can you expect from this amazing Labor Day weekend at Mission Repair? Firstly we will be open for business as usual Saturday and Sunday. Come on over to our service center and we will be happy to take care of you! We will be closed on Monday 9/3/12 so be sure to make note of that!!

Additionally, we are offering a whopping 20% every order placed this weekend online. That’s right. 20% off. That even includes 20% off of the shipping on your repair order. I dare you to try to find a better price on any of Mission Repair’s services. You won’t find it!

So if you’re in need of an iPad repair, iPod glass repair, iPhone fix or other Android Cell phone service. Click on over to the Mission Repair website and use coupon code “dayoff” for your 20% discount.

This offer runs Saturday (9/1/12), Sunday (9/2/12) and Monday (9/3/12) ONLY. Offer not good on orders placed any other dates and not good in conjunction with any other offer or discount. It’s simply amazing.

I’m back to the grind stone – that’s probably some sort of saying from the 1800’s as well. To me it means “Back to work Ryan”. I’ll talk to you again soon.

See ya, Ryan
