I wonder sometimes; should I keep blogging?

We spend an awful lot of time around the Mission Repair headquarters deciding on what to blog about next and when. There are days that I wonder if it’s worth the work – I mean we have to stop what we are doing, come up with a topic, write about it, proofread it (I know we make mistakes – me especially), make sure the links are working and post it. There are times that I can knock out a few great blogs (like this morning) but other times issues throughout the day take precedence and inevitably take me off of my path.

This morning I received an email from Lisa L., one of the Mission Repair Blog Subscribers…I’ll cut and paste the part that I found especially helpful:

“Hello Ryan, thanks for your blogs. I like when I open my mailbox to see if there are any specials. We have 9 apple devices in our home and my teenage son has already been back in your shop in Lakewood twice because he can’t seem to keep his i-pod from hitting the ground. He’s the starting running back on the Lakewood HS team and I hope he doesn’t drop the ball next year as much as he does his i-pod!! Thanks again, can I get the 4th of July special if I place my order monday?

Thanks, Lisa”

Just when I think “I wonder if it’s worth it?”, I get an email like this from a blog fan and my question is answered. It is worth the work, it defines Mission Repair and separates us from the competition – because these kinds of emails drive me to continue and validate our efforts.

So thank you Lisa for the awesome email. I know that I’ve already replied to you individually, but now I’m also commending you in front of all of our readers – there are over 960,000 unique readers by the way – I offer my sincere thanks for reaching out. Yes, we’ll be happy to extend our 15% off special if you’ll just give us a call Monday and I’ll be happy to give you the deal. Just tell your representative that I approved it! If they don’t believe you, just tell them to read this post 😉

Take care everyone, and have a great day.

Ryan

Obsolete Apple repairs? That’s not even a consideration at Mission Repair.

Good morning friends,

Did you know that on June 9th, 2015, the products listed below will be classified as either vintage or obsolete in the United States and other countries; you’ll no longer be able to receive support from Apple or the Apple Retail stores:

  • Airport Express Base Station
  • iMac 2007
  • MacBook Pro 15″ 2.4/2.2 GHz
  • MacBook Pro 17″ 2.4 GHz
  • XServe Late 2006
  • XServe RAID Late 2004
  • iPhone 3G
  • iPhone 3GS

This will concern and affect millions of people in the US and abroad (if you’re in California, you might have a little more time); and we see a lot of iPhone 3GS still come through Mission Repair on a daily basis.

All of the products above will officially move to their new status on June 9, 2015, and no longer be supported for repair by Apple Stores or authorized resellers, but Apple continues to offer support by phone for AppleCare customers.

Never fear, this doesn’t mean that you’re lost if something happens to your trusty device.  You can simply give us a call at 866-638-8402 and we’ll be happy to help you with that “obsolete” or “vintage” device.  That’s why we are here.

Take care, Ryan

My dog ate my homework – and my iPhone?

Hello there, this isn’t a new joke, I understand that. “My dog ate my homework” has been used as an excuse to get out of turning in assignments in class. But “my dog ate my iPhone” is a newer concept. Do these things taste good?

I’m, not sure if this device was actually eaten by a dog, but it’s definitely something that needs to be repaired…and repaired fast! We’ve got the team to do it; this phone will certainly need a new front glass and back case and Lennie is on it right now.

If you find yourself with a device that’s been “mangled”, just give us a call. We’ll do what we can to get you back into shape.

Take care, Ryan

Awarded the “Best iPhone Repair Site” on the internet 6 years in a row. We didn’t give this title to ourselves!

Hello again friends,

I received and email from a competitor that didn’t like my use of the term. Well, the truth of the matter is that we didn’t bestow the award onto ourselves. It was given to us by “TopTenReviews.com”, which is an independent rating site that found us on their own, rated us on their rating system, and gave us their top “Gold Award” every year for 6 years.

It’s a testament to our business, how it’s being run, and response to our services.

But it’s ok, I understand. However I can’t take it back; but on the other hand we’re not perfect. We are always trying to make improvements, offer more services, stay current with our pricing and stay on top of each repair and each customer in a way that helps everyone.

In fact, that’s why we opened a new location just outside of Denver, Colorado. We’ve hired several new employees (in fact Allen from Denver is at our corporate headquarters in Olathe, Kansas now completing some training!) and being local in more cities does make sense for us.

That’s why we announcing our newest location in Indianapolis very soon. It’s an exciting time!!

I thank all of our customers. We appreciate you all. You’re why we are here, and why we care. If you have any questions for us, take some time to give us a call toll-free at 866-638-8402 and we’ll do what we can to help you out.

Have a great day, Ryan

That Was A “Soft” Opening?

Hello M:R Nation –

Yesterday marked a historical day for Mission Repair, as we opened our first retail location! A lot had to happen to make this dream a reality. Take a great location with a very ugly “70’s” interior in the downtown area of Mission, Kansas and add a couple months of blood, sweat and tears by our staff and what we received is a VERY nice  second location for all of our friends in the  Kansas City area!

What was supposed to be a nice and slow opening, actually turned into a crazy, high flying, full throttle kind of experience! We really didn’t know what kind of turn out to expect, but let me tell you, we were in no way disappointed! In the first day of being open in our second location, we had the privilege of helping more local customers than ever before between our two stores!

On a side note, another great thing that happened yesterday is someone actually asked me, “what is a soft opening”? For the first time in my life, I was able to use my favorite movie quote of all time IN CONTEXT! Here was my response: “It’s a soft opening, to test the place before the grand opening. It’s kind of like an out-of-town preview, only it’s in town” (Oceans 13). I am still amped up about this!

While I was unable to be at the “Soft Opening” as much as I would of liked yesterday, I had a great view from our security cams. When looked at the front camera, this is what I saw! Now imagine this, but all day. It was a great reward for a lot of hard work. Better yet, when we see lines like this, we see all of the people we get to help!

So if you are in the Kansas City area and you are having issues with your iPad, iPod, iPhone, Tablet or computer, stop by one of our locations. We would love for you to be the next person that we help! You know have double the reason to no longer deal with broken screen!

I’m off to pay a surprise visit to our Mission location! I will be back to talk about our next big thing shortly…

Cheers, Troy
