Top ways we hear how people ruin their iPhones.

Hello friends-

Ruin is a strong word, I should say “ruin your day”, because in all of these cases, the iPhone can be fixed! It’s why we are in business.

I thought it was time for us to run some data through our system and come up with the top 5 ways our customers have reported damaging their iPhones. This data is similar for iPods and Android phones. Without much more to say, let’s see what and why things are happening to our customers in real life! We will start with #5:

5. It just happened.

Unfortunately we hear this a lot. “I set the phone down and the next time I picked it up, the screen was cracked”. Or, “I left my phone in the car overnight, and now it won’t turn on.” These types of issues are a mystery. Spontaneous breakages. I think it’s the aliens that did it.

4. Animal ate it.

Well, I can’t really say “ate it”, but truthfully there are many times that either the family dog thought the device was a chew toy, but we are also going to include dogs stepping on devices in this one. We hear this a lot: “my dog stepped on my iPad” and the next thing you know is that we’ve had to replace a cracked glass on the device.

3. Pulled by the cord while plugged in.

It’s never a good idea to plug your iPhone in then string the cord across the hallway so that your iPhone is sitting on a table. This is a recipe for disaster, and now that white cable that you treasure so preciously just became a tripwire for the next unsuspecting passerby. This issue causes a lot of cracked screens and charging port problems.

2. Liquid Damaged.

I just heard this on Friday: “I had my iPhone in my back pocket, started to pull down my pants to use the restroom…and ker-plunk my iPhone went into the toilet.” We love these (not really). Truthfully clean toilet water in the iPhone doesn’t scare me that much; but some of my technicians might think otherwise. Spilling a glass of water, jumping into a swimming pool with an iPhone in your pocket, or dropping your iPhone into a glass of beer at a Rolling Stones concert have all been reported.

AND THE NUMBER ONE REASON IS……………..

1. Dropped!

There’s not much more to say about this one. Drops are clearly the number one reason that customers call into Mission Repair for service. Some customers even state “I dropped my iPhone from about 3 feet onto the carpet. I can’t believe that it cracked!”. Believe it.

And there you have it. Straight from the customer’s experience. Let me give you one more “abstract” testimonial from a long-time customer of ours that flies with the Blue Angels Navy Team. Lt. Amy Tomlinson took her trusty MacBook with her on a flight, and slammed the canopy of her F/A-18 Hornet crushing the screen. She called us at Mission Repair and we got her back in working order in no time. I’ve recently talked with Lt. Tomlinson and asked her about that MacBook. She was proud to say the she upgraded herself into a new unit; but the original “smashed then repaired” laptop was still being used by her mother after several years. That’s just awesome!

Have a great week, I’ll be back soon.

Back from lunch…

Here’s my view as I pulled up to the Mission Repair Store in Lenexa…and there’s no where to park! This is a great problem for us to have. I know that blogging about parking spaces may seem a little odd but it’s an interesting result for us.

We’ve been in the building for less than 2 months but it’s obvious that the location and our online marketing are working to some degree. We haven’t even yet gotten our monument sign out against the highway installed, so it appears that our customers are accepting the accessibility and new location. Whew. That’s always scary when making the decision to move into a new space!

So, should I just ride my motorcyle in so I could “squeeze” in to park somewhere? Well if my worst problem is parking, I’ll be happy to take that issue 😉

Thank you for all of the visits and business, we’re working (what feels like) around the clock to make sure we stay ahead of schedule and ahead of the curve.

Talk to you later! Ryan

Mission:Possible.

Our Mission, which we have chosen to accept!

When we take a mail-in repair from one of our customers across the country, the process becomes simple and we will typically email the customer shipping instructions on how to get their device into us.

Many customers opt to use our pre-paid shipping labels that are filled out and very simple to use. Others like to ship devices into us on their own and some add their own creative touches.

In this case, out customer addressed us as “Mission Possible”. I love it!!

Now I’ve been called a lot of names over the years, but this is one of them that I like 😉

Mission:Possible at Mission:Repair. We are here for your electronics repair needs and have been since 2008. Yes, we take mail-in repairs from all over the country (and even Canada!) for customers that aren’t close to a Mission Repair Store. It’s been our specialty…and we are coming in our busy time of the year, so we are hoping for another blow-out end-of-the-year holiday season.

Thanks again for reading, I’ll be back right here in the blog much more today. I feel some writers creativity starting to flow!

Take care, Ryan

Our new Lenexa, Kansas location is fully operational! Except for the air conditioning that is.

Good morning!

All of the usual bugs and glitches hit us yesterday on our first day in our new building and we took it in stride…until the air conditioning in the building went out.

The best part is that we’re in the middle of a heat wave here in the Kansas City area this week; so it’s making for a heck of an uncomfortable work day. Today is starting off a little worse, because it’s already 78 degrees in here. Oh well, it can’t all be perfect, right?

We did have an impressive amount of customers that came in yesterday stating that they waited for this location to open, so it was a huge success. (Thanks to Carol and Jason that I was able to personally spend a little time with yesterday afternoon!) We stayed late and took care of as many customers as we could, and we’re back in here early to do the same today! It’s what we do.

I’m hopeful that the air conditioning will be back to normal in the early afternoon so if you’d like to wait a bit to come in, I wouldn’t blame you 😉

Thanks again to all of our customers that helped us make our first day at Mission Repair in Lenexa Kansas a huge success. We appreciate it!

I’ll be back soon, Ryan
