Heat Wave…and a Coupon Inside!

Hello there summer friends,

It’s been an interesting start to the year as the weather in Kansas City has been strangely rainy. It seems like every weekend that I have a chance to take the boat out, it’s been raining.

That’s all changed and this week there’s an official “heat wave” coming through the Midwest and a “heat advisory” that extends until 9:00pm tonight here in Kansas City. When I walk outside from an air-conditioned building it takes about 30 seconds for my sweat glands to kick it into overdrive.

Yesterday it was 96 degrees F, but it felt like 105 degrees according to the heat index. Since it’s so humid in this area, the actual temperature never seems to be relevant. The “feels like” temperature is what I always hone into when watching the news! Today is nearly the same.

Hummingbird and a coupon inside!

Good morning friends-

I woke up this morning and took a walk outside to the hummingbird feeder just outside my door. There were several birds around the feeder and all but one flew away as I approached…

I got a little closer…and a little closer…until this little guy just didn’t want to fly away. So I snatched up my iPhone and clicked the picture above. I was about a foot away from this cute avian so he posed and I started snapping away. I got a few of him fluttering about but in this pic he stopped and “eyeballed” me just as I was “eyeballing” him.

He probably thought “wow, look at how close this guy is getting to me. They never get that close, they always run away”. 😉

At the very least I thought the picture came out well so I wanted to post it for all to see!
