Droid Turbo 2 by Motorola with a Shatterproof Screen!

Hello! I’ve seen this commercial on TV a few times, and it’s got me thinking about the repair business and the direction of the technology these days…

I snapped this picture of the TV last night to get a better glimpse of the fine print today.

Motorola has developed a new product called “ShatterShield” and guarantees that the screen on your Droid Turbo 2 won’t shatter or crack for 4 years from the original date of purchase. Sounds awesome to me, and many people have made YouTube videos already showing how they are dropping them and how they are not cracking.

Be careful though, the fine print on http://www.motorola.com/shattershield states:

“…scratches and other cosmetic damage, intentional damage or abuse, normal wear and tear and other limitations apply.”

is it possible that dropping your phone and cracking the screen be deemed “abuse?” or even “normal wear and tear”? <— I know it would for my daughter 😉

I'm very curious to see if there is a limit to how many times Motorola will replace a damaged screen, or if they will end up instituting a deductible. This phone does cost over $600 to buy, so maybe they've just built in some extra fluff when it comes to repairing for their customers.

In any case, I applaud Motorola for going the extra mile. Let's see if the other manufacturers jump on the bandwagon and make "breakproof" devices. My gut feeling is that it goes against the basic business model for some of these manufacturing giants…of course they want to sell you a new device when you break yours. Just make sure that you break it and don't abuse it, right?

Hey, have a good evening, Ryan

Awarded the “Best iPhone Repair Site” on the internet 6 years in a row. We didn’t give this title to ourselves!

Hello again friends,

I received and email from a competitor that didn’t like my use of the term. Well, the truth of the matter is that we didn’t bestow the award onto ourselves. It was given to us by “TopTenReviews.com”, which is an independent rating site that found us on their own, rated us on their rating system, and gave us their top “Gold Award” every year for 6 years.

It’s a testament to our business, how it’s being run, and response to our services.

But it’s ok, I understand. However I can’t take it back; but on the other hand we’re not perfect. We are always trying to make improvements, offer more services, stay current with our pricing and stay on top of each repair and each customer in a way that helps everyone.

In fact, that’s why we opened a new location just outside of Denver, Colorado. We’ve hired several new employees (in fact Allen from Denver is at our corporate headquarters in Olathe, Kansas now completing some training!) and being local in more cities does make sense for us.

That’s why we announcing our newest location in Indianapolis very soon. It’s an exciting time!!

I thank all of our customers. We appreciate you all. You’re why we are here, and why we care. If you have any questions for us, take some time to give us a call toll-free at 866-638-8402 and we’ll do what we can to help you out.

Have a great day, Ryan

Wowsers- thanks for stopping by Mission Repair this weekend!

Hello friends-

My General Manager, Troy, sent out a newsletter blast to all of our subscribers and wham…we had a record-breaking weekend.

During our staff meeting this morning, I called out the employees that worked over the weekend to stand up and take a bow. A few of them looked exhausted 😉

We had a huge number of walk in customers that came by and waited for repairs with a surprising number of new mail-in orders as well. The simple fact is that if you visited our store this weekend, you might have had to wait for a bit. I appreciate your patience, and extend my gratitude. We’re back on track today, and we’ve staffed up at our Mission Repair Express location this week to make sure that we can handle the flow!

At times, running one of these repair businesses can really mount up the stress, but thankfully I’ve got an excellent staff helping me take can of each of our customers.

Have an issue with your experience at Mission Repair or want to give someone you’ve interacted with a glowing review? Send us an email to solutions@missionrepair.com and we’ll be happy to chat.

Thanks again, I’m headed for home to make dinner soon, have a great night!

Ryan

Speaking of Saturdays. . .

We’ve been open 6 days a week at Mission Repair for about a year now. . .and it’s going very well for us. Additionally we’re open on Sundays starting a April.

Frankly I’ll be honest, I don’t spend many Saturdays at the office, however today is an exception. We are once again expanding our operation and adding another 5,000 square feet to our service lab soon, so I’m here getting the final plans in place and moving some of the unnecessary items out of our warehouse to make room for the construction.

The “unnecessary items” are mostly my personal items that I’ve stashed at the Mission Repair warehouse so I guess it’s time to clean house! I feel a giant garage sale in my future I’m sure!

We’re having a job fair in Olathe shortly. . .we are interviewing for 20 new employees to start in mid-April to fill this new tech room. It’s a great time to start with Mission Repair as we are in an enormous growth mode that sure to continue -so don’t delay. If you’re looking to join an amazing team, send your resume to “jobs@missionrepair.com” for consideration!

Best, Ryan
