iPhone 6 Plus Bending? Like a boomerang.

Hello blog readers-

There’s been a lot of press about the iPhone 6 Plus and the fact that it seems to be “bending” when left in your pocket for a while. Wait, what? BENDING? This seems improbable!

Maybe Apple should make a “bendy-straw-accordion” version of the iPhone 6 Plus. Or you might need to have it repaired. You can wrap it around your handlebars if you want to 😉

Bending an iPhone is not that improbable. We here at Mission Repair have seen every type of iPhone disaster imaginable. Bent phones, while rare, do happen. The iPhone 5 and 5S are perfect examples of a rugged phone. They have squared off edges with additional metal strengtheners along each edge. The iPhone 6 Plus has rounded edges and is made of aluminum and does not have the same strengtheners as it’s predecessor.

So then there’s a “heat” theory. An iPhone 6 Plus slips into your pocket, and then starts to heat up. This gets the metal hot and therefore logically will make it more pliable. There are a few stories on forums and blogs that are popping up with customer horror stories…but let’s not all panic yet. There’s a lot to be discovered about the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus that only time will tell.

Want some advice? Don’t put the iPhone 6 Plus into your back pocket and sit on it. Actually, don’t do this with any phone. These are small hand-held electronic devices, but they don’t have flexibility or the design to remain pocket bound. That’s your wallet’s job.

Let us know if you have any questions or if you’ve found that your iPhone 6 Plus is bent and you’re not sure why; we’d love to investigate!

Have a great day, Ryan

KCTV5 at Mission Repair Express Today!

Hello friends,

I just got finished with an interview with our local news crew about the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. The crew just left the building:

They were very concerned about the reports of the iPhone 6 Plus “bending” when you insert it into your pocket; which I guess to me sounds a little bit like a feasible situation. Put your phone into your pocket, sit on it, and it bends.

Apparently the issue may be more than that…and since we’ve seen the inside of the iPhone 6 (which doesn’t have much “structural” support like the iPhone 5S does) the plausibility of “bending” is there. We haven’t seen a bent iPhone 6 in our lab yet. Cracked screens, yes…bent phones, no.

Check us on on KCTV 5 today at 6:15, and you’ll see me trying to talk my way out of the iPhone 6 Plus bending issue 😉 Let’s see how they put this one together!

I’ll be back shortly with more info on the iPhone 6 Plus bending problem in a blog later today.

Take care, Ryan

iPhone 6 Screen repairs launched! Now available at Mission Repair.

Hello folks-

We’ve received our first shipment of iPhone 6 and 6 Plus screens at the Mission Repair warehouse, and they have been entered into inventory. Here’s what they look like (the bubbles that you see are protective plastic):

And a picture of the same screens from the back:

There’s little doubt that the iPhone 6 Plus will be a big “adjustment” to anyone that has only used an iPhone 5S or older due to it’s shear size…and we are now beginning to take orders daily for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus screen repairs.

In fact, I saw on the news yesterday and on TV this morning that customers are reporting that their iPhone 6’s are bending when in their pocket. Wow. Clearly these are thin, lightweight, but “bendable”? I’ve seen iPhone 5’s bend, but only under severe weight and stress. Not by slipping them into your pocket. Time will tell about this issue, we’ll keep you informed!

Until then, let us know how you like your new iPhone if you’ve got one, and remember Mission Repair if you need a screen repaired.

Have a good morning, Ryan
