DIY? That Is The Question!

Hello M:R Nation –

This weekend at the Harris household, we had a small DIY project that included paint and new hardware in our bathroom. What started off as a prideful experience, ended up a pretty painful one. Lets start with with the physical pain first. When attempting to remove a wall anchor, a simple task you could say, I brilliantly smashed my thumbnail in the process. How do you smash your thumb nail when removing a wall anchor? Doing it the wrong way, thats how.

Now, lets talk about the blow to my ego. After all paint was applied and hardware was installed, I had one more piece to hang. Keep in mind that It was about 11:30pm, so I was ready for bed by this point. Once I had this last piece hung, I stood back to enjoy my work, but noticed that I had installed it as crooked as I possibly could have! Not a big deal I thought, I felt this could be remedied quite simply. Well, maybe I was a little too confident with my skills by this point and had a false sense of what I was actually capable of… because the next think I knew…

photo

Are you kidding me!

Did I mention, this was the same wall that I smashed my thumb on! What was once a beacon of hope, a sign of triumph, is now just a huge hole in the wall. Furthermore, this hole is so much bigger than any hole I have ever filled, I don’t even know where to start. I wanted a DIY project, I sure got one.

I bring this up because I took a call from a gentleman this morning (Yes, we are open on Sunday) that sounded about as dejected as I am. His DIY project was an iPhone 5 screen repair. He had almost the exact experience as I, but with an iPhone. He sliced his hand trying to open the device and broke the “dang” screen when going to put it back on the iPhone. I was shocked by how familiar his story sounded and I just had to tell him about my experience. In short, we created our owe little support group and hung up the phone a little happier.

So, are you thinking about taking on a DIY smartphone, tablet or laptop repair project? If so that is great! We certainly encourage it as we sell DIY parts online. But let me also caution you. Even some of the most experienced technicians run into a snag from time to time that leaves the device that they are working on in even worse shape than when they started! Because of this, we also offer full service repair services. Thats right, we make the mistakes so you don’t have to. In the case of the gent that I talked to earlier, I set him up with the Phone 5 Front Glass Screen Repair (Black) service and he was tickled pink. So if you are now currently debating on whether or not to repair your device yourself, give the above picture a long hard look and make that choice wisely.

Cheers, Troy

I looked down and my iPhone 5 Screen was shattered!

Hello M:R Nation –

The title says it all. This is an actual quote from one of our customers and it describes something that is not un-common. Cracking the glass on your device and not knowing how it happened! How in the world can that be possible, you ask?

Thats a great question! You think you’d at least see it crack or that it might take some brute force to make the crack appear? Well, from many customer accounts and even a personal one or two, your glass can crack at the most unpredictable times, under the correct/unfortunate conditions.

photo-1

Has this happened to you?

So what are these conditions?

  • Sitting On Your Device – A lot of folks like to put their device in their back pocket. You can do this for years without incident, however, in the “correct/unfortunate condition”, you might sit on something harder than usual and crack your screen without you hearing, seeing or feeling a thing!
  • Carpet Drop – Folks (me included) will drop their device from waist height on carpet. They think nothing of it, don’t look at their device and stow it away. When they come back to it, there is a gnarly crack in the glass! While carpet helps break a fall, keep in mind there is usually concrete under that carpet. If you drop your iPad on the carpet, look at the screen immediately so you won’t be surprised later!
  • Unseen Hairline Cracks –  I have often dropped my iPhone 5 from amazing distances onto asphalt only to find there is no crack or damage to be found…It’s AMAZING. But keep in mind, this unseen mood killer… THE HAIRLINE CRACK. You pick up your device, dance for joy, put it in your pocket for a later time. When you go to answer that next phone call, you retrieve your device and see a huge crack across your screen! This is a very common occurrence and it is simply due to that tiny crack that you can’t see, spreading every time the phone moves in your pocket.
  • Hot To Cold Transfer – I have seen this with my own two eyeballs. On a very cold night, a family member came in from the snow and thought it a good idea to warm their hands and text at the same time. All of a sudden, “CRACK” right before our very eyes! It is the same concept of taking a brutally hot coffee pot and pouring cold water on it (opposite order of course). Glass expands and contracts with the temperature. Any extreme movement of glass has awful consequences!

Keep in mind, we are not scientists. We are only going off of our experiences and some common knowledge about the make up of glass.

So what is someone to do after receiving a surprise crack in their glass? Well, call Mission Repair of course! While we can’t turn back the hands of time and undo the damage on your Smartphone, we can sure make it seem that way! With Mission Repair, you can count on having your device repaired correctly and quickly! Click here: www.missionrepair.com to get started!

With that, I hope you have learned something new with this post. Damage can happen anytime, anywhere, anyway. While there are procautions you can take, like installing a case on your device, there is always the threat of your device becoming damaged. Your best option, is to have someone to count on when it happens! We would be honored if that someone for you was Mission:Repair!

Cheers, Troy

Samsung Galaxy S III Repairs Made Easy!

Hello M:R Nation –

We at Mission Repair have become infatuated with the Samsung Galaxy S III. There were even talks of Ryan switching from his iPhone 5 to the GS3. I am not sure where he is in that process, but I will get you an update.

Why this infatuation you ask? Well, let me counter that question with a question of my own. Have you seen the Galaxy S III? Have you used the Galaxy S III? If you can answer yes to either or both of those questions, than you can understand the infatuation!

Mountains Of GS3 Screens!

By the mountain of broken screens in the above picture, it seems there are thousands of folks that agree with me. Yes, I understand they are broken. How could anyone want to keep a phone that breaks like that? Well, let me give you a hint…every phone in todays market can and will break like this. “The true test of a smartphones greatness is if someone is willing to repair it” – Troy Harris 2013.

What a better time to replace a phone that you don’t like, than when the screen is cracked. Of course, saving money is always a reason, but if you really hate the phone, you are going to use that as an excuse to move on. That is how I deduced my quote above. Yeah, I just quoted myself…

So in true Mission Repair fashion, we have made it easy for you to start, endure and finish the process of getting your Samsung Galaxy S III repaired. I have laid out below, all of the difference carriers and colors of the Samsung Galaxy S III that we currently service. We have 6 different options to suite your needs and are soon to be adding more.

The Kindle Fire Is Gaining Momentum!

Hello M:R  Nation –

I recently read an article that talked about web usage per tablet. Something interesting came out of that article. The Kindle Fire is out there in droves! With the iPad maintaining the highest percentage of users at 78.86%, this is actually a decrease for them. 7.14% to be exact.

The Kindle Fire is showing up as a massive 7.51% which is actually a very large number considering the ever so popular Samsung Tablets are only at 4.39%. What has caused this? Some say it has to do with increasing sales of the Kindle Fire, others say that it might just be that a good amount of iPad users are also iPhone 5 users which just happened to soar to a 8.27% usage share. Keep in mind, we are talking millions and millions of units here, so while these %’s seem small, it actually reflects a huge number.

Either way, this has a large impact here at Mission Repair. The more these devices are use, the more support our customers need. We love to be the company offering this support on the very wide range of technology that is out on the market today.  so if you find yourself in need of this kind of support, give us a shout at 866-638-8402 or email at support@missionrepair.com

Mission Repair Gift Certificate

Hello M:R Nation –

We still have a few days remaining until Christmas and what better way to tell your loved one “I Love You” by getting them a Mission:Repair Gift Certificate ? I guess you could call it an “I love you, will you get that iPhone screen repaired already” Gift Certificate.

We know how hard it is to pull people away from their computers, tablets and smartphones. It’s an even more difficult task to do it as a surprise! I know if my iPhone 5 were to randomly disappear, I would freak out, search high and low, end up conceding and buying a new one. Image how awkward of a gift that would be once opened. Don’t get me wrong, we have heard plenty of success stories when it comes to gifting a repair, I just don’t think I could pull it off or have it pulled off on me.

How do you order this wonderful gift you ask? Its easy, just click the following link to make all of your wishes come true 😉 Mission:Repair Gift Certificate. Now the way this works is it is a printable item. Once ordered, you will be able to print the certificate at home! It is that easy. No need to pay for shipping, no waiting in line and you can order it up to Friday and still have it in time to give on Tuesday. Simply put your email address in as the recipient, once the Gift Certificate is emailed to you, print it out and put it under the tree!

You can also email that special someone the gift certificate. If you have a friend or relative that lives 1 or 1000 miles away from you, no problem! Just specify a different email address when ordering, fill in the to and from information and send away.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me directly at Troy@missionrepair.com and I would be happy to help you out!

Cheers, Troy

We’ve received an “Excellence Award” from TopTenReviews.com!

Hello everyone, I was just informed that we have received another award from the Independent Site, “toptenreviews.com”!! It’s always nice to be reviewed and tested by the experts 😉

Not only did we once again receive the Gold Award (for the 4th year in a row) for 2012, but we also received their Excellence Award for 2012. These two marks are a testament to our service and I am the first to admit that we aren’t perfect. . .but we always take care of our customers and always try to make things right.

Speaking of making things right – we’ve launched our iPhone 5 Repair page and are placing orders for parts as they become available. We’ve seen some iPhone 5 Screens being quoted at $300 or more – not to worry, we are working hard to make sure to drive the prices down!

Thanks for all of your support. Ryan
