When is a good time to get your iPhone fixed?

Hello there, I get this question from customers all the time:

“It’s cracked, but it still works. Should I get it done now or wait?”

IMG_2585

Take this iPod Touch in the picture above for example…this is the epitome of “cracked”. Most of these units that we receive are not this bad; but of course some are. Most of the time, the LCD even works under the cracked glass, and even the digitizer might work (the touch function) which makes it compelling to just used a damaged device for a while.

The problem is that the cracks can get worse. Just like the small chip that started when a rock hit your windshield and now has “grown” across the the length of your vision, the cracks in the glass on an iPhone can get worse over time. And when they get worse, the more potential for internal damage is likely to happen.

Just imagine if you spilled a drop of coffee on the iPod in the picture above. Let’s say near the home button at the top of the picture; it will seep into the unit and would most certainly begin to corrode and would most likely eventually cause more damage.

Remember, liquid + electronics = bad news.

If the glass is whole and not broken, that drop of coffee would just simply wipe off and no harm would be done. The cracks like in the unit above also pose a safety risk to the user. Glass is clearly falling out of the front panel and can easily end up in food, drinks, your eye, fingers, or on the floor for your baby niece to find the next time she crawls in that same area.

When should you have that cracked glass replaced? Do it now before it costs you more than you expected and/or causes you some physical harm.

Take care, Ryan

Back to school – I just had a moment…

Hello folks,

After my lunch with Brae, it’s Thursday afternoon and it seems like the entire country is going back to school right now; my son Casey was just in my office this morning (he had an interview at the Olathe Police department, kind of cool!) and we were discussing his LAST YEAR of school. He is going to be a Senior this year, and then like some sort of magic – he will be done with school and off to bigger and better things. We aren’t quite sure what that means for him yet…a career in law enforcement? Become a chef? Who knows for sure…but college is in his future and right around the corner.

What I realized is that I just registered my youngest child for his senior year in high school. This is it, no more school registrations for me! I can just remember when I was saying “I can’t wait until I get both of my kids into Kindergarten. That will be great”. Well, not only is my daughter already in her 3rd year of college (holy moly) but my son is finishing High School this year. Simply amazing.

I can tell that the entire country is in “Back to School” mode and it pretty much effects everyone, even those without children. I’ve seen a ton of Facebook posts today and many kids are starting back up already! Casey goes back next Thursday to begin the first day of his last year of school, and I know he’s 50% excited and 50% dreading that summer is already over.

We’re in the Back to School Spirit here at Mission Repair too. In fact, Melanie and I are working on a Newsletter that will release this afternoon with an awesome back to school special. We know you’re busy, and we can seen by our huge increase in orders that families are scrambling to get devices fixed before the school year (in fact, the school IT departments are back from vacation and sending in Purchase Orders like crazy!) and we want to help if we can. Our Newsletter special will help offset some of the costs that families might be incurring with all of the back to school madness. Want to be a part of the Newsletter blast? Just sign up here and you’ll get a copy later today!

Thanks again for reading everyone, and I’ll be back this afternoon in your email inbox with the Mission Repair “Back To School” special!

Take care, Ryan

Hummingbird and a coupon inside!

Good morning friends-

I woke up this morning and took a walk outside to the hummingbird feeder just outside my door. There were several birds around the feeder and all but one flew away as I approached…

I got a little closer…and a little closer…until this little guy just didn’t want to fly away. So I snatched up my iPhone and clicked the picture above. I was about a foot away from this cute avian so he posed and I started snapping away. I got a few of him fluttering about but in this pic he stopped and “eyeballed” me just as I was “eyeballing” him.

He probably thought “wow, look at how close this guy is getting to me. They never get that close, they always run away”. 😉

At the very least I thought the picture came out well so I wanted to post it for all to see!

This makes me feel like posting a coupon for Mission Repair in honor of my feathered friend. Let’s take 10% off of your repair order now through the end of July, 2014 with coupon code HUMMINGBIRD. Just enter this coupon online or bring a copy of this blog with you when you visit one of our locations today or tomorrow to receive your discount. This coupon cannot be combined with any other offers.

Thanks again for reading, I’ll be back soon with more great Mission Repair information!

Take care, Ryan
