Obsolete Apple repairs? That’s not even a consideration at Mission Repair.

Good morning friends,

Did you know that on June 9th, 2015, the products listed below will be classified as either vintage or obsolete in the United States and other countries; you’ll no longer be able to receive support from Apple or the Apple Retail stores:

  • Airport Express Base Station
  • iMac 2007
  • MacBook Pro 15″ 2.4/2.2 GHz
  • MacBook Pro 17″ 2.4 GHz
  • XServe Late 2006
  • XServe RAID Late 2004
  • iPhone 3G
  • iPhone 3GS

This will concern and affect millions of people in the US and abroad (if you’re in California, you might have a little more time); and we see a lot of iPhone 3GS still come through Mission Repair on a daily basis.

All of the products above will officially move to their new status on June 9, 2015, and no longer be supported for repair by Apple Stores or authorized resellers, but Apple continues to offer support by phone for AppleCare customers.

Never fear, this doesn’t mean that you’re lost if something happens to your trusty device.  You can simply give us a call at 866-638-8402 and we’ll be happy to help you with that “obsolete” or “vintage” device.  That’s why we are here.

Take care, Ryan

DIY? That Is The Question!

Hello M:R Nation –

This weekend at the Harris household, we had a small DIY project that included paint and new hardware in our bathroom. What started off as a prideful experience, ended up a pretty painful one. Lets start with with the physical pain first. When attempting to remove a wall anchor, a simple task you could say, I brilliantly smashed my thumbnail in the process. How do you smash your thumb nail when removing a wall anchor? Doing it the wrong way, thats how.

Now, lets talk about the blow to my ego. After all paint was applied and hardware was installed, I had one more piece to hang. Keep in mind that It was about 11:30pm, so I was ready for bed by this point. Once I had this last piece hung, I stood back to enjoy my work, but noticed that I had installed it as crooked as I possibly could have! Not a big deal I thought, I felt this could be remedied quite simply. Well, maybe I was a little too confident with my skills by this point and had a false sense of what I was actually capable of… because the next think I knew…

Are you kidding me!

Did I mention, this was the same wall that I smashed my thumb on! What was once a beacon of hope, a sign of triumph, is now just a huge hole in the wall. Furthermore, this hole is so much bigger than any hole I have ever filled, I don’t even know where to start. I wanted a DIY project, I sure got one.

I bring this up because I took a call from a gentleman this morning (Yes, we are open on Sunday) that sounded about as dejected as I am. His DIY project was an iPhone 5 screen repair. He had almost the exact experience as I, but with an iPhone. He sliced his hand trying to open the device and broke the “dang” screen when going to put it back on the iPhone. I was shocked by how familiar his story sounded and I just had to tell him about my experience. In short, we created our owe little support group and hung up the phone a little happier.

So, are you thinking about taking on a DIY smartphone, tablet or laptop repair project? If so that is great! We certainly encourage it as we sell DIY parts online. But let me also caution you. Even some of the most experienced technicians run into a snag from time to time that leaves the device that they are working on in even worse shape than when they started! Because of this, we also offer full service repair services. Thats right, we make the mistakes so you don’t have to. In the case of the gent that I talked to earlier, I set him up with the Phone 5 Front Glass Screen Repair (Black) service and he was tickled pink. So if you are now currently debating on whether or not to repair your device yourself, give the above picture a long hard look and make that choice wisely.

Cheers, Troy

iPhone 5 Is Alive!

Hello M:R Nation –

Do you remember the movie “Short Circuit”? You know, that curious robot that glides around yelling “need more input” and “no disassemble”!  Yeah, now you remember. I was discussing movie robots the other day with a friend (please don’t judge me) and the topic of how do we find and purchase replicas of our favorite childhood robots came up. After much discussion, eBay came to mind and this is all I could find:

Screen Shot 2014-02-04 at 11.38.44 AMA naturally grown Johnny #5. No, I am not kidding you. This bad boy will only set you back $60.00 and once you are done with, just throw it in your yard and it will naturally decompose 🙂 . I guess the search will go on…

How does this have anything to do with iPhone 5, iPhone 5S or iPhone 5C repair? Well, after watching “Short Circuit” again, I realized that Johnny #5 and our customers say some of the same phrases:

shortcircuit6

When you hear the name of the new iPhone: Number 5 stupid name… want to be Kevin or Dave!

When you see your iPhone turn on for the first time after purchasing: Oooooo! Beautiful. Light bulb.

When looking at broken glass: Many fragments. Some large, some small.

When your touch screen fails:  Malfunction. Need input.

When you bring your iPhone in for repair: No disassemble Number Five!

After Mission Repair repairs it: Number 5 is alive!

Ok, so I might be having a little too much fun with this… so on to my main point. Mission Repair is here for you for any of your iPhone 5 repair needs! That includes the iPhone 5, iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S as well! We are capable of repairing any issue that you may have and will have it back into your hands, REASSEMBLED in no time!

If you have any questions or just want to talk about robots from the 80s, give us a call @ 866-638-8402 and lets chat!

Cheers, Troy

iPhone Rumors And The Iced Americano!

Ok People – I have two very important events taking place at my desk, right this very second. I started a post that had nothing to with what I’m about to talk about here, but a new service can always wait… Right?

A. I am catching up on the newest iPhone rumors and it is heating up. Here is what we in the fanboy community know so far: We will be seeing 2 new iPhone models launched. The iPhone 5S and a lower priced iPhone “5C”. The iPhone 5 S will be very similar to the iPhone 5 with some upgrades that have been rumored to a tame upgraded dual LED flash to a wild sapphire- covered convex home button with a fingerprint sensor. If you ask me, I think Apple will do as they always do and just slightly improve on what is an already great product.

Now the iPhone 5C is another story. It is a completely new product and the purpose of it is to be a lower cost solution for folks that want an iPhone in their lives! It will have an all plastic shell, come in a slew of colors and from what I am hearing, a great camera.

The Rumored iPhone 5C Back Case!

B. I am thoroughly enjoying this iced Americano whilst I am catching up on these rumors! What is an iced American you ask? It is the most simple and delicious drink you can have if you enjoy the taste of strong coffee. Take espresso, a little bit of water, ice and you will have one stellar drink! Sure, throw some sugar or milk in there if you need. But to enjoy in its purest form, drink it straight 🙂

Yummy

Thanks Starbucks! You are never my first choice, but you will do…

In closing…we know how exciting a new product release from Apple can be and If you have a broken iPhone 4, 4S or 5, the release of the new iPhone 5S can’t come soon enough. But consider this, Mission Repair can repair that broken iPhone for you! Like we always say: Repair, Don’t Replace! You can either save yourself from entering into ANOTHER 2 year contract, spending a whole gaggle of cash on an unsubsidized phone or at least repair so you can sell it for a maximum profit and put that money towards your new iPhone 5S!

Whatever you choose to do, we are here to help and save you money! That is why we started Mission Repair and that is why we are still around after all this time! You and other people love to save money!

Cheers, Troy
