Good morning Summertime!
I just looked outside and the weather looks gorgeous. It’s a good thing too because I’m heading to Table Rock Lake this weekend to get some sunshine and to do a little exploring on the lake. We’ve been there a lot over the last 10 years, but never all the way up and down the lake. It’s going to be a bit of an adventure that I’m really looking forward to!
It’s really feeling like summer here in Kansas City, and we’ve announced our Mission Repair Company Picnic which is really fun each year. We’ll play games and break into group for activities like Tug-O-War, “Blind” obstacle course, egg toss and a few other classics. I usually get the BBQ going to cook for all 40 of us and there are typically a few surprises as well 😉
Never fear, we will be doing this on the second Sunday in July so we won’t be modifying our work schedule which we will keep updated here. Please note that we WILL be closed on the 4th of July, but open like normal on the 3rd of July. I’ll write a separate posting for that coming soon.
Have fun today, it’s going to be somewhere near 100 degrees outside in my neck of the woods, stay cool!
Take care, Ryan
Hello everyone, it’s been a heck of a Monday here at Mission Repair.
We had our company picnic this weekend and it was a blast. Most of our employees showed up for a fantastic catered BBQ dinner and coolers full of liquid refreshments. In addition, we held 7 events to keep the energy up. A fun one to watch was the “Tug O’ War” competition. We elected 2 team captains who then picked their teams from the willing employees and away they went. Yes that’s me with the whistle refereeing the “Tug”:
One of the other events was an individual hula hoop competition. Here’s Jake with a sampling of his skills. Yes, he’s going to come and ask me to remove this video from the Internet, but I’m not going to 😉
Overall it was an amazing day and we had a huge turnout of almost 50 people. The weather was perfect and it’s always a great time when you can get out of the office and get to know your fellow co-workers on a personal level. I know that I have personally grown from this experience; and maybe I learned just a little too much 😉
OK back to business, it’s 5:26pm and I still have a few hours of work left to accomplish. It’s crunch time and I have to get to work. Even though when I look at these video it feels like I’m back at the lake!
Take care, Ryan
Hello everyone, it’s been a while since we got caught up on our company Olympic events. Well, last week it was a Minute to Win It competition…that was a huge success!
Do you know about “Minute to Win It?” Minute to Win It was an American prime time game show that ran on NBC from March 14, 2010 to September 7, 2011, being hosted by Guy Fieri. Contestants took part in a series of 60-second challenges that use objects that are commonly available around the house.
So we concocted our own fun version and had a blast after work last Thursday night. Here’s Lennie, playing “Candelier”:
And Casey is playing “A Bit Dicey”, stacking dice on his popcicle stick in his mouth. Yes that’s me in the background with the timer. It’s very flattering…not:
So what happens when you win an Olympic event? Well, after 12 months of events, the employee with the most wins receives a trip to New York City for a long weekend! The best part about this annual giveaway is that we have the final event and the decision announced this Friday evening at our Company Christmas Party event.
It’s going to be an amazing time, and I’ll announce the winner right here in our blog next week. I’ll also try to get a couple of action shots at the Christmas party too. You know, the incriminating kind 😉
Take care, Ryan
