Cracked iPad Screen? Need A Discount ?

Hello M:R Nation –

Have you recently had the unfortunate experience of cracking the glass on your iPad? I completely feel your pain x 3! If you read this blog on a regular basis, you should be privy to the fact that my son has cracked the glass on our family iPad 2, three times over. Ok, so one of those occasions may have been my wife, but I still can’t get an accurate story!

You understand that the thing needs to be repaired. Not only for the sake of using it, but for safety reasons as well. The glass on iPads are sharp and are not fused to the LCD like smartphones and other tablets, making it much easier for the glass to fall out and injure. However, you are also willing to wait on a good deal to come around!

Why pay full price if you can wait a day and possibly get a discount? But sometimes that day turns into weeks and months or years!

How about we put an and to the waiting and get started on your repair today? To help this process along, I am going to offer a special blog reader only discount! If you email coupons@missionrepair.com, we will send you a 15% coupon code that you can use towards getting that iPad repaired! What better time to finally have your beloved iPad repaired than now?

Cracked iPad Screen?

Hello M:R Nation –

The iPad 2 remains to be one our top sellers here at Mission Repair! Yes, after all of these years, the iPad 2 remains supreme. We actually have a dedicated team of iPad 2 repair technicians that eat, sleep and breath the iPad 2. This is the same team that repairs our iPad Minis, iPad Airs and iPad Mini With Retina. They welcome the challenge of the never ending flow of iPads and do a great job!

Why are there so many iPad 2 repairs? I think the question should actually be: Why are there still so many iPad 2s in general? The answer is simple…There is no “I gotta have it” difference between the iPad  2 and it’s two successors. When my 4 year old son cracked the screen on “his” iPad 2, I seriously considered buying “The iPad With Retina Display”. After going to the Apple store and taking it for a test drive, I really didn’t notice a difference. In fact, there was no difference at all. Now I understand the speed increases generated by the successors and the lightning charger that matches my iPhone 5, but it was and is not enough of a difference for me to replace the whole thing. So I decided to go the repair route.

So, You Received An iPad For Christmas?

Hello M:R Nation and New iPad Owners –

Congratulations on your brand new iPad! Whether this is your very first iPad or a replacement for an older model, you are ecstatic about the technology in your hands! This is a very understandable emotion to have!

Now, what happens if that technology accidentally slips out of your hands? As in, you drop it and damage your brand new gift! This is obviously not something you would like to think about at the moment, but it is an unfortunate reality of iPad ownership :-(. While there are many thoughts on how to prevent damaging your brand new iPad and many folks will go the whole life of their iPad ownership without said damage, I find that more often than not, if you have an iPad in your hands… it will be damaged at some point.

Cracked iPad Glass

My personal experience!

Now, that last statement I made could just be a product of my environment or maybe even my personal experience (3 damaged iPads later) but I think it’s important that you know what can and might just happen to your awesome new gift!

Ok, I think I have drilled the point long enough…but now what? Well, this is where Mission Repair comes in! We have worked for years perfecting the art of iPad Repair and we are well equipped to handle any iPad issue, BIG or small! We are your ally in this war against gravity and while we don’t offer much in the way of a gravity defying case, we are here to clean up the mess and make it right after the battle!

Enough of the analogies? Fair enough, let me give you some actual useful information that I think will be very important to any iPad user moving forward and please feel free to hand this out to your friends.

For starters, here is a direct link to our iPad Repair services: iPad Repair! Next, our contact information. Click here: Mission Repair and save us to your computer, smartphone or even iPad! It will be very useful to have this information close if you do happen to have an unfortunate spill! Lastly, let me give you peace of mind… We understand how nerve wrecking it can be to send your iPad out for repair and can assure you of this, we will treat your iPad as if it was our own. From start to finish, we will handle it with care and let only highly trained technicians complete repairs on your device. No, it will not be me repairing your iPad :-)!

If you have any further questions, please contact me directly at troy@missionrepair.com!

The Truth About Your “Cracked iPad Screen”!

Hello M:R Nation –

The term “Cracked iPad Screen” has become a vague term over the last couple of years. With all of the revisions of the iPad and the fact that when you have a “broken screen”, that might mean 3 different things. With a new iPad being released about once every year, we have quickly accumulated many services to offer and it can be confusing. Here is a quick list of the iPads that we service:

Original iPad (Wifi & 3G)

iPad 2 (Wifi & 3G)

iPad 2 REV A (Wifi & 3G)

iPad 3 aka The New iPad (Wifi & 3G)

iPad 4 aka iPad with Retina Display (Wifi & 3G)

iPad Mini (Wifi & 3G)

Now, each of these iPad models have a separate Glass and LCD screen. Here is a quick visual or what each part looks like separately:

photo

iPad 3 Glass and LCD Screens

On the left, you will see the iPad “Glass”. This glass has a special layer that senses your touch. This is what we call a digitizer. the digitizer is adhered to the glass by a special optical adhesive. When the glass cracks, the digitizer will often continue to function which is great, until you start cutting your fingers on the broken glass, YIKES!

On the right, you will notice the LCD screen. This is what generates the picture that you interface with when you are using the iPad. It’s just like your TV, but a lot smaller! When this breaks, it will usually look as if your screen has an ink blotch on it or you will see lines through the entire length of the picture. More on this to come…

You can start to see what I mean when I say the term “Cracked iPad Screen” is a vague one.  With so many different models and the possibility of the glass, LCD or both screens being broken, you should try to become as knowledgeable as you can before taking your iPad in or sending your iPad out for repair.

Why is that? Because the best consumer is a well informed consumer. You will want to make sure that you are ordering the correct service for your iPad.  This could be the difference between a reasonable repair and an expensive one! Of course, with the right repair center, you can just send it in and they will fairly assess your situation and charge you correctly, but NOT ALL REPAIR CENTERS ARE CREATED EQUAL! We all know how you can be treated at an automotive repair shop, just know that electronic repair centers can be just a bad.

Alright, so lets identify what iPad you actually have. The best way for you to do this is by looking at the back of your iPad and locating your model number.

iPad mini Wi-Fi + Cellular Late 2012 A1454
iPad mini Wi-Fi + Cellular (MM) Late 2012 A1455

iPad (4th generation) Wi-Fi + Cellular Late 2012 A1459
iPad (4th generation) Wi-Fi + Cellular (MM) Late 2012 A1460

iPad (3rd generation) Wi-Fi + Cellular (VZ) Early 2012 A1403

iPad (Wi-Fi) 2010 A1219
iPhone 3G front and back iPad (Wi-Fi + 3G) 2010 A1337

Ok, now that you have your iPad identified, lets decide what service you actually need. The best way to do this is to just show you. Below are examples of both a cracked glass and LCD screen:

Broken LCD on the left. Cracked glass on the right.

Shatter patterns on your glass will vary and your LCD might not look exactly like this, but you can clearly tell by both images what is what.  Click on the image to get a closer view if needed.

Ok, so you now know what iPad you have, you have identified what screen is broken and now all you need to determine is where you will have it repaired.
