Great start to 2016!

Happy 2016!

It gets me every year the first time I write check (this time it was at Costco!) and I actually scribble the numbers “2016” on paper…it’s official, it’s sunk in, and I couldn’t be happier.

2016

So how did you spend your New Year?  Did you celebrate?  Did you go out?

I actually stayed at home for the ball drop, which was nice because it was pretty icy out and not worth the risk to drive with any potential roaming “party goers”.  So that felt pretty good.

The next day, I headed to the Hollywood Casino next to the Kansas Speedway with my mother and Dandra.  It’s a tradition.  Didn’t win much but I did have a mean “Cookie Sunday Dessert” at their awesome restaurant Turn 2.

Saturday was a day filled with getting caught up on the first 6 Star Wars episodes so we are prepped and ready to see the newest one in the theater.  Hopefully we’ll be able to catch a showing within the next week.

And yesterday was spent watching a little football (well, a lot of football) and what a glorious day it was.  It’s nice to get the regular season out of the way and now into the playoffs.  It looks like it’s going to be a great set of games.

Finally last night Casey and I were able to carve out some time to install his new radiator in his Toyota Tundra.  Neither of us really wanted to do it, but it’s done and his truck is running great.  You may remember my earlier blog about this!

Now that it’s “Back to Work” day, I’ve been enjoying a nice morning crafting a few blogs, taking care of some price decreases on the website and about to head to lunch for something tasty.

I’ll be back soon, but I hope your New Year Holiday was a great as mine, I’m feeling really good about 2016 for sure!

Take care, Ryan

We aren’t just your average repair center.

Every day we receive calls from customers asking if we fix devices other than Apple Computers and iPhones…the answer is that Apple is only a piece of what do. Mission Repair isn’t just one of these new “pop up” smartphone repair companies that you see on every street corner!

Yes, we do a lot of Apple repairs there’s no doubt about that. But did you know that we can repair the microphone on your Motorola Droid? Or upgrade the hard drive on your Dell laptop? Maybe you’ve got an iMac that needs a RAM upgrade? Mission Repair is your one-stop shop for your electronics repairs and upgrades.

Check out our full line up at MissionRepair.com or give us a call at 844-459-0105 to speak to one of our friendly representatives.

Here’s a fun little tidbit. When someone searches “screen repair” on the web, we will most likely pop up as a search result. However we have gotten several calls from customers asking if we repair screen doors. I’m sorry, but that’s just not on our list of expertise!! Have a good Friday.

Happy October.

Good morning, I can’t really believe that I haven’t said it yet, but Happy October!

Wait a second, it’s already October 16th? I’m losing time somewhere. Somehow. Lately I’m been doing a lot of work with my technicians, it’s bringing me back to my roots. Speaking of my roots, can anyone tell me what this is?

If you guessed an “Auto-Inject Floppy Disk Drive”, then you really know your vintage computer parts! This was one of my first projects in the business back in 1994; testing these drives for functionality. It was then that my father purchased a floppy disk drive repair business (consisted of a single employee and a few pieces of test equipment) and off we went into the floppy disk drive repair business for ourselves to compliment our monitor repairs and other component level services. The floppy drive repair business was so good that were were performing hundreds per week…but like all technology, things are bound to change! Needless to say, our floppy disk drive business is no longer around; but it was the precursor to what Mission Repair is today.

While I’m still the master at repairing old floppy disk drives, that doesn’t pay the bills. At Mission Repair we are doing everything we can to stay on top of the technological curve and adapt to new products when we can. If there’s something that you’d like to see us repair, give us a call! This means that I won’t get my hands dirty – this week I soldered on a blown capacitor on a older PCB for a customer that has been coming to us for years…he just likes the way I solder 😉

Check us out, we’re here for you. Have a great day, and oh yes, Happy October.

Take care, Ryan

Best of the Mission Repair Blog.

I was going through the insights of my blog tonight as I have been patiently waiting for the 1,000,000 Unique Visitor counter to turn (we need about 200 more at this point), and found that our best blog day was:

Screen Shot 2015-10-13 at 9.02.07 PM

Yes, we had over 31,000 views on a day a few years ago (we average much lower than this per day now) and it was a special day. We had received a frame for an iPad 2…long before the iPad 2 was released…and we posted it here on our blog. Here’s the infamous picture:

ipad frame

And a link to the original article here. We talked about the frame itself, how a MacBook camera fit directly into the slot where a camera would most likely be, and posted it for the world to see. Looking at the picture now makes me thing “that got all of that attention?!?” Well it did bring 31,000 views on that memorial day and crashed our wordpress site a few times so it probably would have been even more!

There’s a little known tidbit that I’ve never talked about regarding this picture. Apple called me directly about it and discussed how and why I got the part and asked if I would take the image down. We had a peaceful discussion about it, it never went any further, and the picture and article remain here posted on the Mission Repair blog today.

I’m bringing this up because since that post a while ago, we have had a steady increase in blog readers, subscriptions, followers and re-posts. Sometime in the next few hours we will reach 1,000,000 Unique Visitors, and I’m going to stay awake for that. You don’t need to; unless you’re trying to win that iPad Air that I’ve been talking about. Then you should grab a cup of coffee and keep watching. It’s going to happen very soon to make today another Mission Repair Blog moment in history.

I’ll be right here, Ryan

iPhone 6S Repairs-

Hello there iPhone fans-

It’s only be a few short weeks since the iPhone 6S has been released and we’ve unfortunately already had several calls from customers asking to have their screen repaired…in fact, this customer came in Monday to show us his cracked iPhone 6S screen, you can see the crack down by the home button:

It’s unfortunate because we’re not quite ready to perform the repairs on these devices yet (they are “coming soon” on our website!), the parts are just still a couple weeks for repair centers like Mission Repair to obtain. Otherwise we are good to go.

So check back if you need that iPhone 6S or 6S Plus repaired some time in November; that’s my best guess but it could be sooner. I’ll let you know the day they are available, thanks!
