Remember – don’t get your MacBook wet!

Good morning,

Water and electronics don’t mix – I’ve talked about it before but I want to discuss a few points again. Is your MacBook waterproof? Not a chance.

It’s more common than you might think; but we receive items in for repair on a daily basis that show signs of liquid damage and without doubt if you get your iPhone wet, you’re bound to see problems unless it is addressed.

My guess is that some of these customers don’t even know that they had a liquid spill or had any contact with water/soda/coffee whatsoever. Sometimes is the unknowing fault of a child or household pet that inadvertently spills or “leaks” onto a keyboard.

For example, here’s a logic board that came out of a 2014 MacBook Pro with Retina Screen; and the device was not displaying video.

If you look closely, and I know that it’s hard to tell; but can you see that chip that is on the logic board that says “Apple 2010”? (It’s actually upside down) It’s about dead center in the picture…there is an IC that is on top of it with slightly green corrosion that is growing from some sort of liquid that got onto the board.

I know, the picture doesn’t do it much justice, and I even almost missed it. For scale, that component just below it is the headphone jack port, which is very small in itself…this was a minute amount of corrosion on the MacBook Pro Logic Board that was causing a major amount of problems!

So I cleaned it up and guess what? Video displayed back on the screen again. This would have been a $680 repair had this customer went directly to Apple…but it was just took me one hour of labor to complete it. The customer makes out and Mission Repair saves the day.

We offer a full-line of liquid damage repairs; but to be realistic, not all of these are repairable. If your MacBook was sitting at the bottom of the lake for week, it’s probably not repairable. But if you spill a cup of coffee on the keyboard of your computer; turn it off quickly and give us a call. We will do our best to save your day too!

Take care, Ryan

Mission Repair contruction – again. It seems to never stop but there’s a COUPON INSIDE!

Hello friends, it’s been a whirlwind week here at Mission Repair. I find myself saying that a lot, but truthfully we are really busy. In fact, Monday of this week April 6, 2015 – we had a record receiving day for repairs – the most in company history. More than Cyber Monday, Black Friday, or any other normal “big” day for us.

What was so special about April 6th? Not a thing that I can tell. We are working diligently on our marketing and trying a few new things…

Which leads me to our newest expansion. We are creating a new shipping and receiving room at our Corporate Headquarters in Olathe. We just need more space. Truth is that we are moving from one building to the next, but the shipping and receiving area that we have now if just too small for our needs. Hence the expansion. Luckily, we had the room…for the new room!

The sheetrock is up, and right now it’s in the “messy” stage with a lot of dust and debris everywhere. But once it’s done, we’ll have even better capabilities than before. Adding this 500 square feet of dedicated space will also help us stay organized, “on the ready” and will even keep our employees in a climate controlled room during the summer. We’ve tried to work in a space without air conditioning before, and it is just a little bit miserable in the summers.

What’s today’s coupon? If you’ve read this far you must be interested. Today and tomorrow, we are giving a 15% off coupon for all new orders placed online, over the phone or when you come into one of our locations. Just use the coupon “organize” and you’ll get 15% off your entire order. Coupon expires midnight 4/10/15, and cannot be combined with any other coupon or special, and is not available for “got repair” services. Questions? Give us a call at 866-638-8402.

Thanks, and have a great day.

Ryan

iChat- it’s a wonderful thing!

Hello everyone-

With multiple sites operating, and even within my own building, we use iChat with video conferencing on a daily basis here at Mission Repair.

This morning, Albert and Tayler up at our Mission Repair Express Store asked for a short video conference and I snapped a quick screenshot:

It’s a great way to stay connected to every employee and is truly an efficient way for us to communicate. A decade ago, I might have had to drive up to my other locations to have a “face to face” meeting – but now with iChat and my built in cameras, I can see things and check in on expressions, morale, issues and questions from the comfort of my desk. Thank you Apple!

Of course, there are lots of other video conferencing applications and programs for Mac and PC’s alike; however if your camera isn’t working correctly, you’ve got an issue from the start.

Remember Mission Repair if you find yourself with a failing built-in camera. Mac or PC. In today’s world, a camera seems to be most important (think about your cell phone for example) and is just as valuable in the office. We can solve and repair just about any camera problem that you might be having in our service lab. Keep us in mind.

Until next time, have a great day and I’ll be back soon.

Best, Ryan

iPad Screen Repair Center – yes, in your hometown.

Good afternoon-

Did you know that we can repair your iPad, even if you’re located in Denver, Colorado? But what if you live in Austin, Texas? Or maybe Atlanta, Georgia?

overnight

Mission Repair DOES take walkins at any of our locations with no appointment necessary, but the main core of our business is still mail-in repairs. In fact, we can pick up your device even if you live in Concord, California. We will take the guesswork out of mail-in services, and it’s one of the reasons we can keep our prices low. In fact, we cover the entire 48 States top to bottom and on a daily basis it’s good to get to know a customer that lives in Boise, Idaho. We chat on the phone, decipher what is wrong with your iPad, have it picked up from your location, repair it, and deliver it back to you.

There’s no better way to get an iPad, iPhone, iPod or other hand held electronic device repaired if you don’t want to battle the traffic, lines and congestion of a retail location.

Yes, of course you can stop by one of our locations and drop it off as well…But since we don’t have a store in every town across the country we make things simple by completing your repair remotely.

Interested in sending your device into us? Give us a call 866-638-8402 and we’ll be glad to help you out!

Take care, Ryan
