It has been a wild ride here at Mission Repair since my last Tech Tid-Bit! I apologize for the delay but I was waiting for something really good to post! Today, I would like to talk about the 4th Gen iPod Touch Screen Repair! For the one’s who have done this repair before it is a pretty basic repair when it comes to fixing an Apple Device. For those that have not had experience fixing these, I do not recommend trying it. Make sure to bring it to a professional!
Well, we stumbled across something very interesting when repairing these little guys and boy did it stump us. We would power the unit up and test all functions prior to repairing the device. Of course the only thing that needed to be replaced was the screen. I won’t get in to detail on the process of repairing the screen. We simply want that to be our own little secret! I was informed from our Sales Manager Lennie that we started getting phone calls about the 4th Gen iPod Touches that we were fixing and they were no longer functioning at all after we had replaced the screen and shipped the units back. First it started out with a couple, then a few more, then quite a few more after that. Needless to say, we have some of the best technicians here at Mission Repair that are wonderful at solving problems! Indeed we received the units back under our No Hassle Warranty program. We installed screen after screen and could not get the iPod to power on. Finally, our Specialty Technician Matt decided to take a screen off an already broken device and install it. WHAM! The unit powered right up and worked just fine. We also noticed that after repairing the screen the unit still worked just fine as long as there was battery life left. It only happened when the iPod would completely die and had to be recharged again.
Im sure you are sitting there wondering why this happened. Well I am here to tell you. There is a software glitch in these iPod Touches and the IC Chip in the replacement screens. The IC Chip is only compatible with units that have been updated to newest software available from iTunes. If you are still having issues with your 4th Generation iPod Touch after a screen replacement please give us a call and we will help you get things up and running! You can even email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will gladly assist you! I hope this little Tid-Bit of knowledge will help all the fellow technicians out there that have experienced this issue! Until next time!!
Your Tech Genius!
