Case Of The Mondays (Screen Protector Edition)!

Hello M:R Nation… and happy Monday?

Happy or not, we are going to discuss a product today that  I have been testing for the better part of 2 weeks. While it is not a case, I hope you will let me stretch the rules here for just today.

The Spigen GLAS.tR SLIM Premium Tempered Glass has been an interesting accessory to have on my phone to say the least… It is a piece of precision cut, 0.4mm glass that adheres to the screen of your iPhone. The purpose is 2 fold in my opinion… #1. It’s oleophobic coating really reduces the finger prints that is usually left on phone screens and #2. It absorbs the shock if you happen to drop your phone.

When I opened the package to start my install for my iPhone 5, I found a few different items that impressed me to my core. First, the instructions are very simple to follow. It seems like a hard concept nowadays for companies to make easy to follow instructions, but Spigen has passed this test with flying colors (granted, its a pretty easy task to install this piece of glass). Second, Included is all of the components you need to actually install the piece of glass (you’d be surprised by how many screen protectors require outside tools to install). Last, they include a choice of 6 raised home button stickers that will accommodate the 0.4mm that you just added to your screens thickness.

The install was very simple and took about 5 minutes. I chose black for my home button and started to live my life. The first thing I noticed about this product is the lack of finger prints that it picked up and how nice it felt to the touch. It attracted 100% less prints than the original iPhone 5 glass that is on it. In fact, the only time a print was left on this glass is when I intentionally tried to leave one on it. I did have  a smudge here and there, but for the most part, it remained clean and clear!

I accompanied my Spigen screen protector with the Spigen SGP iPhone 5 Case Ultra Thin Air that I reviewed last week and the extra thickness was not very noticeable. Even when I took the case off, the extra thickness was manageable. Take a look at the (not so great) image above! After having this screen protector on for 2 weeks, I really got used to it. It became a part of my iPhone 5 and I really miss it. Why do I miss it? Because it did what it was born to do and protected my iPhone 5 screen after I dropped it!

Ouch!

There I was, walking out to my garage to grab my son a juice box and I suddenly received a text message. When I went to respond to said text message, I tripped slightly over a broom that was placed unceremoniously in front of the door. My iPhone slipped right out of my hand I just knew this wasn’t going to be good. Fearing the worst, I picked my iPhone and sure enough, a nice large crack was staring me in the face… Lesson of the day “Never text and walk to your garage for a juice box”.

As I started to assess the damage, I remembered that I had this screen protector on my iPhone. I started to swell with hope that it did its job and protected my screen. I slowly peeled the protector off (which came off cleanly and not a shard of glass to be had) and sure enough, it worked!  My iPhone screen was as flawless as ever and my mind was at ease.

If I had to rate this product from 1-10 I would most certainly give it a 10! I am confident in its ability and I am confident to offer it to our customers. So with that, you can place your order for your very own Spigen SGP iPhone 5 Screen Protector GLAS.tR SLIM Premium Tempered Glass right here with Mission:Repair or walk-in to our location and let us install it for you. There is no possible way to completely protect yourself from breaking your Smartphone, but this will give you a fighting chance!

Cheers, Troy

Case Of The Mondays (Mission Repair Accessory Review)!

Hello M:R Nation –

It is Monday and that can only mean one thing…accessory reviews! Ok, so we have actually never done an accessory review on a Monday, but from here on out, you can expect them like clock work!

Today, we are taking a look at the Spigen SGP iPhone 5 Case Ultra Thin Air in the metal  slate color. Let me start by saying I use personally use this case, but in black. It is a new addition since receiving my iPhone 5 back from Apple and I gotta tell you, I really like it.

For the longest time, I have been a self proclaimed “Purest”. I have gone case-less and if you would take one look my iPhone (pre-replacement) you could tell. I had many scratched, nicks and gouges in the back case and plenty of marks on the screen. Once I received my replacement iPhone, I couldn’t put it through that hell again. It just looks too nice.

The Spigen SGP iPhone 5 Case Ultra Thin Air gives me “the purest” exactly what I need. It is paper thin, feels great in my hand and even replicates the chamfered edge that I love so much. It comes with a screen protector, shammy and 3 “jelly bean” home button protectors. The one downside to this case is something I actually caused. I took the phone out of the case so many times, I actually stretched it slightly, so the phone wiggles around a bit. Other than that, this case is perfect for me.

Of course, everyone is not looking for the same qualities that I am when it comes to a case, so let me outline what you are getting:

  • light weight
  • thin
  • simular texture
  • chamfered edge
  • slate color
  • limited protection

This case is available right here: Spigen SGP iPhone 5 Case Ultra Thin Air and if you are looking for any other accessories for your iPhone, iPad, smartphone or tablet, http://www.missionrepair.com is the place to be!

Cheers, Troy
