So I’m sitting on a cruise ship and…

Hello there cruisers!

I say “cruisers” because if you’ve ever been on a cruise ship, that’s what they call you.  A crusier.  Ok, I’m good with it.

Normally when I’m on vacation I don’t really need to talk about work.  It’s a good time to decompress, forget about the normal day-to-day worries and just relax.  When we were all sitting at the dinner table, I struck up a conversation with the newlywed couple next to us.  Finally, the question of came up “what do you do?”

“I own a small business that repairs iPhones, Smartphones, tablets and computers” I said.

So he then pulls out his Sony Xperia and says “can you fix this?!?  Brilliant!

So sitting at the table I snapped this picture and told him that I’d blog about it.  Thanks Cale, after a few days on the cruise ship spending time with you and Lauren it’s now obvious that we have made some great friends.  Next time I visit Florida, I’ll bring a back glass with me and take care of that cracked component for you.  It’ll only cost you 3 mai tais 😉

So, even in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico it’s difficult to get away from the business.  I guess that’s a good problem, right?  Well, I’m back to it and I’ll be right here knocking out some more blogs (and some amazing newsletters are in the works as well!) from the comfort of my “dry land office”.  Ugh, who wouldn’t rather be working from Cozumel?

Have a good morning.  Ryan

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1″ 2014 Charging Port Repairs!

Hello friends of electronics…

I have a short story to tell. I was heading into our local grocery store last night, and as I was walking in, I was using my iPhone to text my son to tell him that I was picking up some ingredients for dinner. Yes, I was walking and looking down at my phone. Until I saw a large SUV coming up to me and about to cross my path. I stopped and watched this gentleman not give me a second look because he was using his cell phone!

Ok, no biggie- no harm done (this time) and I moved on. It got my attention so I slipped my iPhone into my pocket. I then did a little observation, and the next 4 people that I was “merging” with into the front door were ALL either typing texts or presumably reading texts. I then looked into the “food court” area of the store that was behind the glass foyer. The teenager that was working at Starbucks was texting, the customer that was in line was texting, and even the person that was sitting eating a muffin was texting…with the palms of her hands because her fingers had food on them. Think about that one for a minute 😉

My realization was that EVERYONE that I encountered last night was alone (including myself) and moving through life like normal, but ALSO using a hand-held device.

When I was growing up this wasn’t so. The only way to communicate was to stop by a friend’s house or call them on their home phone and ask whomever answered for your buddy. It’s just amazing how we are so digitally connected these days.

This is why Mission Repair is in business. We are doing what we can to keep people connected. For example, we recently announced our Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1″ (2014 model) charging port repairs – which literally keeps these devices connected to the Internet. Without the ability to charge your Note, you’ll be offline for good.

This repair is just $79 for a new charging port, installed. This will fix charging issues, syncing issues, and will get your Galaxy Note 10.1″ back in service again.

Have any questions? Just give us a text. Just kidding, we’d prefer a call at 866-638-8402. Thanks have a great day!

Best, Ryan

We all need it overnight.

Hello friends-

Have you had to send anything overnight to anyone, anywhere recently? I just had to mail a letter (I’m talking USPS Priority Mail) to a P.O. Box, and when I went to our local Post Office, it cost me $24.85 to mail a letter (not even a package!) overnight to my recipient.

I was surprised at the amount. I mean this wasn’t a 10lb package, it was a letter for crying out loud. I understand that there are costs involved, especially when I requested OVERNIGHT service, but it just seemed high until I talked to the person beside me that said “if you send it FedEx, it would have been $60!”

keep-calm

Well, I would have sent it via FedEx from my office at Mission Repair, but FedEx doesn’t service overnight to Post Office Boxes. I had no choice but to use the Post Office. Why does the price seem high to me?

We send iPods, Tablets, Computers and a multitude of devices all over the country every day and we only charge $9.99 to send a 1 lb box anywhere in the USA. Well anywhere that’s not a P.O. box! That means any physical residential or commercial address. i.e. your house or work!

It’s $9.99 because we only are charged $9.99 from FedEx…

We don’t make any money on the shipment of course- we just pass the savings onto our customers that want and need overnight shipping. With the shear number of packages that we send we’ve been able to negotiate down our rates to astounding lows.

I spoke to a customer today that said “I live and die by my iPhone. I can’t be without it”. I can certainly understand the priority if you literally live and die by your device. Personally, if I lost my device I probably wouldn’t shed too many tears; in fact, a lot of my daily stress would probably go away. But to others, it their business, or their lifeline, or their only means of communication to the rest of the world and that’s why we offer overnight shipping options on all of our repairs. “Get ’em done fast” I always say.

It sounds like I could charge at least $24.85 for 1lb. overnight shipments…but I won’t. It doesn’t seem right to me so we’ll keep up the pace that we are currently at, and keep offering savings to our customers – which we know you like!

The last part of the rant today – it was about the line at the Post Office. Argh, I’ll save that for another blog!

Take care, have a great weekend. Ryan
