Santa is coming. Should I be embarrassed?

So my wife emailed me this afternoon- and I’m not sure what to think about it.

Screen Shot 2013-12-09 at 4.12.15 PM

These are my dogs. The one on the floor, our male “Shadow” and the female in Santa’s lap “Layla” are our babies, there’s no question. But I’m feeling something is a little off seeing my dogs sitting there with the red-suited-white-bearded stranger.

I mean, Shadow is a protection dog and will not hesitate to attack a stranger when needed. I guess I wasn’t there for this session, so he didn’t feel the need to “protect” me, but seeing him next to Santa somehow diminishes his masculinity to me. I mean, this dog is amazing, well trained and prideful. In this picture he seems a bit defeated. Truthfully I’m not sure what I’m actually feeling right now 😉

Furthermore, Layla is a “scaredy-dog” and I can’t even imagine what it took to get her to sit in this Santa’s lap. I don’t know. Half of me wants to delete this pic so I never have to see it again. The other half says “what’s the harm”, it’s the holiday season and it’s cute. I guess.

So here’s to the amazing amount of funny, laughable, cute and amazing pictures we’re going to witness this holiday season. I think this pic deserves a special discount dedicated just for it on our Mission Repair website. Here it is: use coupon code “funnysanta” when checking out online and receive 13% off of any repair we offer between for the 2013 holiday season. Coupon code expires on Christmas, 12/25/13 so act fast!

Have a funny Santa pic of your own? Email it to “sales@missionrepair.com” and we’ll take off an additional 5% off of your repair just for participating. Maybe I’ll even write a blog about your pic…we’ll see!

Take care, talk to you again soon, Ryan

Macbook Pro With A Cracked RETINA DISPLAY?

No Problem!

Hello M:R Nation, The 15″ and 13″ MacBook Pros with RETINA DISPLAY are the cream of the crop, the Ferrari, the…well… Apple of the Laptops computers. If you have ever seen one up close, you know that they are one of the most beautiful designed pieces of hardware ever created. While I don’t currently use one (I’m going for this new “Don’t buy EVERYTHING Apple releases diet) I see them come through our tech benches on a daily basis. While its safe to say that we have yet so see anything naturally fail on these computers, the older they become, the more likely that is a possibility. Unfortunately, user related damage and failure is another story completely.

A freshly repaired 15″ Retina Display Macbook Pro!

The majority of the issues we see with this computer are screen related. Sure, we will often see coffee spilt on the key board, I/O functions going haywire and logic boards frying, but the usual culprit for the owners headache is a damaged screen.

From the very moment these computers were released, we decided that we were going to repair these! They were too beautiful to ignore and leave hanging in the pits of despair that is accidental damage. Repairs started at a very high price, which is normal for any new device. But over time, the price tag started to get smaller and smaller until we landed on where we are now. $399.00 for a full retina display screen repair!

We offer it for both the 13″ and 15″ models and we are super quick to get it back to you! This is no ordinary screen replacement mind you. We have to actually dig out all of the internals of your display, shards of glass and all, and start from scratch. Installing layer after layer, until the computer is as beautiful and functions just as it did on the day that you first opened it!

We at Mission Repair would be honored to repair your MacBook Pro 13″ RETINA DISPLAY Glass and LCD Repair or MacBook Pro 15″ RETINA DISPLAY Glass and LCD Repair! Just click on those links to get started, or give us a call…lets have a chat about how we can get your piece of design history back in full working order!

Cheers, Troy

Fusion Drive Upgrades on Mac Laptops? Only at Mission Repair.

Hello everyone, it’s an exciting day here at Mission Repair, and we’re happy to bring you our brand new service for Mac Laptops that are in need of an amazing upgrade!

fu·sion

/ˈfyo͞oZHən/
Noun
The process or result of joining two or more thing together to form a single entity.

So what is a Mission Repair Fusion Drive Upgrade?

Our all new Fusion Drive Upgrade is the right way to upgrade your Mac Laptop. Fusion Drive is a breakthrough concept that combines the high storage capacity of a traditional hard drive with the high performance of flash storage. With Fusion Drive in your Mac Laptop, disk-intensive tasks — from booting up to launching apps to importing photos — are faster and more efficient. That’s because frequently used items are kept at the ready on speedy flash storage, while infrequently accessed items go to the hard drive. The file transfers take place in the background, so you won’t even notice. As the system learns how you work, Fusion Drive makes your Mac experience even better.

Q: I like the idea of an SSD in my computer. What model Solid State Drive do you install?

A: We love it too! We only use tried and tested components. In particular, we will install a 120GB Other World Computing Mercury Electra 6G SSD drive into your Fusion Drive Upgrade!

Q: What will happen to my data?

A: The short answer is nothing! The long answer is that we will make a clone of your data as it sits onto a temporary drive. We will then install the SSD drive with a custom drive mounting bracket, remove your optical drive (which you can have us install into an external enclosure if you’d like) and connect it to your existing hard disk drive. Our technicians will work their magic by creating the Fusion Drive and then reinstall your data and software. You’ll get your laptop back working as it did when it arrived. Just a lot faster and both drives work seamlessly together.

Q: What if I want to upgrade my hard drive at the same time?

A: Of course, this may be a perfect time to have your mass storage drive upgraded but it’s not necessary Just choose from the available options when checking out, and we’ll always send your original drive back to you. It’s yours, right?!?

Q:  Will it work in my machine?

A:  There are a few limitations.  Basically, we can upgrade any 13″ MacBook Unibody or 13″, 15″, 17″ MacBook Pro (not with Retina display) that is running OS 10.8 or higher.  We will remove your optical drive to make room for the new solid state drive but if you have any questions, please give us a call at 866-638-8402 before ordering!

So another first from Mission Repair, just as you’d expect. Again, give us a call if you have any questions, but we’re performing upgrades as we speak and customers are in love with their new found performance.

Take care, Ryan

My book is complete! Almost.

Hi everyone, any published authors out there? Well there are none here – yet!

I don’t know if you remember, but I blogged several months ago (on July 18, 2012 to be exact!) about being asked to write a book for the Globe Pequot Press titled: How to Start a home-based Computer Repair Business.

My keyboard has been on fire for the last 8 months!

My keyboard has been on fire for the last 8 months!

Since July, I have been diligently working nights and weekends to get it done. In fact, after several “back and forth” edits and revisions with my editor, I received this email from her today:

———————————-
Ryan,

Awesome, thanks! Off to production it goes. I should have first pages for you in about three weeks!
———————————-

What does that mean for me? I have my nights and weekends back! For anyone that has ever written a book of any length (mine is about 70,000 words) I now have a huge understanding of the process and a deep respect for authors unlike ever before. This process is time consuming, tedious, and one must have an attention for detail. There are other parts of being an author that I didn’t really understand until I did it. In fact, I went back through the earlier parts of the manuscript and I had forgotten about some of the things that I wrote about early on. Yikes, where did the time go!

Well 8+ months later, a mild case of carpal tunnel and a new respect for writing, it’s complete. I was told that I’d see the first chapter in “print format” for approval in about 3 weeks before the printing press runs the thousands of copies for Amazon.com.

What’s in the book? Well, if you’re interested in owning your very own version of my company, Mission Repair, I tell you all the secrets and ways to get your business started and running to success. All you need to do is buy the book 😉

Ok then, so a HUGE weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Check this project off the list!

Take care, Ryan

Free Shipping on all Repairs at Mission Repair (Limited Time Offer)!

Ok, what’s going on here? Well I’m out of my mind. I made the decision to offer FREE SHIPPING on all of our repairs. From iPods, iPhones, Tablets, Smartphones even computers- Mission Repair is now offering FREE SHIPPING on any repair performed!

Another Mission Repair first!

Here’s the catch: Well, there isn’t one. I tried to come up with something but this time it’s just simple as pie. Pumpkin pie! Let’s run a scenario. Let’s say you have a cracked iPhone 4S. You visit our amazing iPhone Repair department and choose to have your iPhone 4S Screen repaired. You’ll see the word [FREE] next to the return shipping option before you checkout. When you choose this, we will send your repaired device back to you with NO SHIPPING CHARGE. It’s quite an amazing thing! Not only that, you’ll get it back via FedEx which is trackable and insurable. Yes, there are other cheaper ways for us to get your device back to you…and it could take weeks, with no tracking capability, and no insurance, and no signature. Heck we’d be surprised if your item ever got back to you all under those circumstances. We’re not going to take the risk. I’d rather pony up for the better FedEx service and make sure you get your device back in your hands, safe and sound. Is it coincidence that this is being announced the day before Thanksgiving, which is a day before BLACK FRIDAY and a couple days before CYBER MONDAY? No. Beginning on Black Friday we spin up to enormous levels of repairs and I want to be the first to grant you the best service on the internet and also include FREE SHIPPING. No coupon required, but you do need to place an order and have us repair something, otherwise it’s tough to redeem this amazing deal 😉 Have a great day, Ryan
