13″ Macbook Repair? Yes, We Still Do That!

Hello M:R Nation –

The original Macbook is a timeless pieces of art. Its design and simplicity has paved the way for what you see today. It was well before it’s time and it show. When it first arrived in early 2006 and we started to offer services for it, I never envisioned receiving them on a daily basis for repair 7 years later. This truly shows you how timeless it really is. In a world of bigger, better and newer, the Macbook has stood the test of time and has continually provided enough power, speed and longevity to appease us technology crazed human being.

This is why we love Apple. The products they produce are so great, that people use them for years! I personally use a Blueberry iMac G3 for my Oregon Trail addiction and to keep track of my personal finances ;-). While that was a joke, it is not far fetched. The iMac G3 that I have in my office is running OSX 10.2 and still offers a good amount of computing fun. The original Macbook is no different. I would be comfortable running the entire business on it.

So, with that being said. What services do we currently offer for the Macbook? The same services we offered 7 years ago! Take a look at what those are below:

Yep, that is a big ol’ long list of services indeed. We offer each of these services with the care and speed that you expect. So please, keep those Macbooks up and running! There is no need to give up on them just yet.

Cheers, Troy

My book is complete! Almost.

Hi everyone, any published authors out there? Well there are none here – yet!

I don’t know if you remember, but I blogged several months ago (on July 18, 2012 to be exact!) about being asked to write a book for the Globe Pequot Press titled: How to Start a home-based Computer Repair Business.

My keyboard has been on fire for the last 8 months!

My keyboard has been on fire for the last 8 months!

Since July, I have been diligently working nights and weekends to get it done. In fact, after several “back and forth” edits and revisions with my editor, I received this email from her today:

———————————-
Ryan,

Awesome, thanks! Off to production it goes. I should have first pages for you in about three weeks!
———————————-

What does that mean for me? I have my nights and weekends back! For anyone that has ever written a book of any length (mine is about 70,000 words) I now have a huge understanding of the process and a deep respect for authors unlike ever before. This process is time consuming, tedious, and one must have an attention for detail. There are other parts of being an author that I didn’t really understand until I did it. In fact, I went back through the earlier parts of the manuscript and I had forgotten about some of the things that I wrote about early on. Yikes, where did the time go!

Well 8+ months later, a mild case of carpal tunnel and a new respect for writing, it’s complete. I was told that I’d see the first chapter in “print format” for approval in about 3 weeks before the printing press runs the thousands of copies for Amazon.com.

What’s in the book? Well, if you’re interested in owning your very own version of my company, Mission Repair, I tell you all the secrets and ways to get your business started and running to success. All you need to do is buy the book 😉

Ok then, so a HUGE weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Check this project off the list!

Take care, Ryan

The key to success!

Hello everyone, here’s a pic of Kim (in sales) entering our Service Lab:

Notice that she’s holding a key card with a smile? We just had our new security system installed and there’s a reason that I’m blogging about it.

I want all of my customers to know that when you use Mission Repair, we are doing everything we can to make sure that your device (and data) are safe. We have a very secure building with night-vision cameras, state of the art security system, time lock solid-core security doors, a key-card entry system (with a sensor on every door – except for the bathrooms!) and even a locked secure cage that keeps your device secure in the event that it needs to spend the night at our service lab. I’ve also got a few other goodies installed that keep me comfortable when we’re away, I’ll keep these surprises to myself 😉 We can even track the movements of our employees within the business to see who is where at all times. Is it “Big Brother Watching”? No. It’s the smart thing to do and it keeps us all accountable!

Why do we do all of this? It’s for peace of mind. We’ve never had to deal with a burglary or break in at our repair center (KNOCK ON WOOD!) and our customers like knowing that we’re not just some fancy website without the operations to back up our business. Keeping our customer units safe and secure is a top priority while we have possession, period.

It’s one more Reason to trust Mission Repair with your broken iPad or MacBook Repair. We’re the Intelligent Choice.

Take care, Ryan

Diagnosis always FREE at Mission Repair!

Hello folks, it’s been a heck of a week here at the Mission Repair Headquarters. We’re opening up our new sales office and I even moved my personal office as well. It’s a lot like moving out of a house to be honest! I was in the same office for several years and it’s inevitable for me. . .the longer I stay in one place the more “dug in” I get.

It was a good time to “clean house” so to speak and I was able to get rid of a bunch of extra stuff that I’ll never need again. I kind of feel like if I don’t use it within 6 months, then I probably don’t need it 😉 So I’m all settled into my new space upstairs and it feels amazing!

So I was doing my morning reading and it’s come to my attention that I need to talk about our repair services on a high level. Specifically, and simply, WE DON’T CHARGE TO DIAGNOSE YOUR DEVICE. I don’t care if you send in an iPod, iPhone, MacBook, Tablet or any other device that we currently repair. . .we will ALWAYS diagnose for free!

Why is this important?

It builds trust between you, our customers, and Mission Repair, your friend in the service industry. We don’t charge for diagnosis because we are happy to tell you what’s going on and we’re confident that you will proceed with our repairs. Why are we so confident? Because our pricing is realistic and not over-inflated. We diagnose correctly. We address your concerns and let you make the final decision on what your repair threshold is and let you remin in control of the repair.

If we charged for the diagnosis, you may feel “obligated” to complete a repair because we have you on the hook for some pre-determined amount of money.

It’s all about building trust and starting our repairs out right.

We could charge for our iDevice diagnosis, but we don’t. What happens when we spend time looking at a device, perform an evaluation and then a customer requests it to be delivered back without having a repair done? First you’ll never have a high-pressure salesperson trying to sell a repair. Secondly, we’ll lose money but this happens so infrequently it’s just part of the business.

Once again, it’s all about trust.

Being fair and keeping our technicians honest with their findings and offering our customers the best possible end solution to get that expensive device back into their hands working like new is our goal!

There it is. . .that’s why Mission Repair performs free diagnostic services. It’s a matter of principle. Why pay for it elsewhere when we’ll do it for free?

Take care, have a great day. . .Ryan

Ok, settle down, I’m still here!

Well it’s been a few days since my last blog, to be honest after the Christmas holiday (we were closed Friday through Monday) we have had back-to-back record breaking order days over here at Mission Repair.

In years past, this week is typically “slower” for us, but this year it’s different. Like much different. I planned on our new office expansion based on the fact that it would be slow. . .there’s nothing like working around the construction workers with all the hammering and ruckus!

Here’s Scott answering 2 phones, typing an email, finishing an iChat and closing a sale while sitting in a pile of boxes – we are a little crammed but we’re remaining flexible:

If you call in and get Scott, you’ll instantly know that you’re in good hands!

Well it doesn’t phase us 😉 actually I can tell by the staff at the end of the day when the phones stop ringing and I hear a collective “WHEW” – that maybe they are phased just a little bit. The good news is that we are rocking over at Mission Repair.

Well it’s almost 5 pm over here and time to take a short break before the night shift arrives. Have a great night and I will be back tomorrow with some awesome business news.

Take care, Ryan
