Amazon Kindle Fire HDX Repairs announced!

Hello friends –

With all the talk of Amazon’s new services lately – I just had to revisit some of our repairs that we offer and let you know that we have launched a few new services today.

Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7″ Kindle Screen Repairs!

There is some confusion between the Kindle HD and the Kindle HDX. These are 2 totally different devices and we should talk about them! It’s not just one thing; there’s a lot going on here:

Displays

The Amazon Kindle Fire HDX comes in two sizes: 7-inch and 8.9-inch, offering a 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution display (323ppi) on the 7-inch and 2560 x 1600 (339ppi) on the 8.9-inch. At that resolution, the 8.9-inch HDX has the sharpest display around, while the new 7-inch HDX matches the Nexus 7 (2013) for pixels.

The Kindle Fire HD (2013) – that’s the new version – has a 7-inch 1280 x 800 (216ppi) display, whilst the Fire HD 8.9-inch has a 1920 x 1200 (254ppi) display. Naturally, the higher pixel density displays of the HDX will give you more detail, with the 8.9-inch HDX looking like the real star in the pack.

Power and battery

The Kindle Fire HDX models have a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, the same sort of thing as you’ll find in the LG G2 or Samsung Galaxy Note 3. That means oodles of power on offer on both the 7-inch and 8.9-inch models, both with 2GB of RAM.

The Kindle Fire HD models both at 7 and 8.9-inches settle for a 1.5GHz dual-core processor. The HDX will be faster, but Amazon also reports that the Kindle Fire HDX will offer slightly longer battery life. Not bad considering the step-up in display and power. It’s aided by a new software feature designed for reading, which shuts down non-essential hardware to extend the battery to 17 hours if reading alone.

Cameras

The camera isn’t the most important part of a tablet in our opinion, but you still see a large number of people using them to take photos: the Kindle Fire range hasn’t had a rear camera until now. The Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 has a rear 8-megapixel camera, as well as a front-facing camera.

Both the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 and the new Kindle Fire HDX 7-inch offer front-facing cameras, while the new 7-inch Kindle Fire HD (2013) has no camera at all.

Connectivity

Kindle is known for being well connected and the wide range of clever features, like Whispersync, that come with it. The new 7-inch Kindle Fire HD (2013) is the only model without the option for 4G. It also misses out on the dual-antenna Wi-Fi that the others offer. If connectivity is key, so you might want to avoid the 7-inch Kindle Fire HD and pick one of the others.

Software

The Kindle Fire HDX and 7-inch Kindle Fire HD (2013) debut with the latest Fire OS3 software. The Kindle Fire HD 8.9 doesn’t have that update and there’s no word on if it will.

Fire OS3 brings a range of features to the Kindle Fire HD and HDX family, including a new Mayday button for instant customer service support, second screen features, better touch response, X-Ray for music, a new reading mode that powers down hardware that’s not needed to extend the battery life and much more.

Repair Price

This is where Mission Repair steps in. While the HDX is a little more expensive to repair than the Kindle Fire HD, it’s still simply more cost effective to repair than replace. Give us a call if you have any questions at 866-638-8402. Thanks!

Kindle Unlimited…good news!

Hello friends- I’ve found myself using my Kindle to read more and more lately.

I know, who reads any more, right? Well apparently reading is still a good way to spend quality time in life, and I happen to agree. In fact, Dandra is a librarian, so reading is not an option at the Arter house 😉

Today, Amazon officially released “Kindle Unlimited” which allows the customer to enjoy unlimited access to over 600,000 titles and thousands of audiobooks on any device for just $9.99 a month. There’s a 30-day free trial as well which is really nice! Don’t worry Dandra, I already signed us up.

Amazon is giving you the freedom to explore through reading with their new program. 600,000 titles. Tons of options. I’m in – I thought that I’d pass this along.

Have a good day, Ryan

I heard a little rustling in the middle of the night…and a coupon!

One more quick blog before I head to our Mission Repair sales meeting tonight – yes, it’s gonna be a late one!

Just a bit about me: I’m a light sleeper. I think having kids did that to me, and I can fall asleep fast but wake up just as fast.

Last night I thought I heard a little “pitter patter” coming into our room from the living room at about 3:00am. We have wood floors so I can usually tell if anyone is approaching the bedroom door; and I typically have a collar with a couple of clanking “tags” on the dogs – but last night I took them off.

I was quietly sleeping and I didn’t hear any unusual noises until a “huff” was “blown” into my face from the side of the bed. It was my German Shepherd Layla.

She was in “ninja” mode and somehow without me hearing she sneaked out of the room, over the hardwood, into the kitchen, and secured a dog bone for herself. She then proceeded to walk back into the room, sit next to the bed (bone in hand…uh…mouth) and wake me up so she could go outside to bury it. Yup, she’s a busy bone burying dog.

As I woke up, I snapped this picture of her with my iPhone – that’s never far away from me.

Who needs kids when you can just have a couple of dogs? I have both…and truthfully having dogs is a bit easier 😉

So for all of you that made it to the bottom of this post – I have a new coupon that is running now through Friday afternoon. It’s for 15% off of your next repair order here at Mission Repair.

Just enter coupon code “LAYLA” to receive the discount.

Valid on new orders and cannot be combined with any other coupons. It will expire at Midnight on 7/18/14 so act fast!

Have a good night, I hope you sleep well.

Kindle Fire Charging Port Repairs!

Hello M:R Nation –

I just finished up dusting off my old repair tools and getting in deep with some Kindle Fire USB port repairs. I always feel a sense of calm when repairing something and after a hectic business day like yesterday, I needed some calm in my life.

When I say “charging or USB port” I’m referring to where you plug your charger into when the battery on your Kindle Fire is low. Replacing this port is not for the faint of heart. It’s soldered onto the main board of the kindle and take some pretty specialized tools to complete the task. This is one of the main reasons we don’t offer a DIY part for this specific repair. It’s our way of saying “let the pros handle it”.

So, now that I have finished all of our in-house units and shipped them to their respective owners, I’m kind of craving more! Do you have a Kindle Fire that no longer charges? Well we have a solution for you and the best part about this solution… You won’t go broke utilizing it!

Our Kindle Fire Charging Port Replacement Repair Service is only $49.00 and I bet if you look around, you could find a coupon code and get a few duckets taken off! So if you are in need of this incredible and inexpensive service, give us a call or click the above link to get your repair started!
