Mission Repair Express Update-

Hello friends-

Where have I been? I know it’s been a bit since my last blog, but I have an excuse. I’ve been working around the clock on our very first retail store that located in Mission, Kansas.

Mission Repair Express.

I’m back at our corporate headquarters today for a bit just to catch up on some emails and get a blog or two posted. Here’s a sneak peak at some of the progress at the new shop:

I’m not going to show you everything yet 😉 but it’s going to be completed and buttoned up on Sunday of this week! That means that we will be ready to open on Monday, St. Patrick’s Day, with a little luck of the Irish. The final cleanup and walk-through happens Sunday night so we were able to complete the project sooner that expected and we even came in under budget. All positives from my perspective.

However, when I say “we will be open”…we will be open. But a lot of the retail accessories, spare parts and cases will arrive later in the week. We will be open for repairs, consultations, advice and diagnosis on your ailing device. Will we be repairing on Monday? You betcha. Bring that cracked iPhone into us and we’ll take care of it for you with SAME DAY service!

This is the next chapter in the Mission Repair story and I’m glad you’re here with me. It’s been a hard run working late nights, managing the headquarters and keeping the standards of Mission Repair high. I’m going to let you in on a little tidbit as well – I’ll be working at the new location on Monday 3/17/14 but then taking a few days of vacation starting Tuesday. I’m just going to sleep for a few days, maybe even get caught up on some of my favorite TV shows that I’ve been missing. Some rest and relaxation are in order.

Our official ribbon cutting ceremony will be on April 1st, 2014 but don’t hesitate to stop in the store starting Monday of next week to say hello.

Many specials and discounts coming in the next couple of days to coincide with our newest Mission Repair chapter…so stay tuned!

Take care, Ryan

I dropped my iPhone on the carpet and it broke!

Hello friends – we have heard this time and time again.

Can it be true? Dropping an iPhone on your living room rug can cause the screen to crack? I can remember my early Motorola phone that I would intentionally toss across the room – or on the ground – easily on a carpeted surface – and not have an issue.

The fact is that it is true. If you drop an iPhone on carpet it can crack. I have not personally ever seen it, but since we’ve repaired almost a quarter of a million devices in the last 6 years, the sheer number of customers that have stated this is staggering.

What can be done about this? Firstly, keep your iPhone in a case. If you’re a purist like me, that’s going to be tough. I like the sleek and stylish look of the iPhone without a case engulfing it’s body, but if you’re accident prone the case just might save you a trip to our service center. The sad truth is that a case doesn’t guarantee your iPhone’s safety. That’s where Mission Repair can come in handy.

We are constantly running specials and coupon codes for customers to get their iPhones fixed quickly. So if you’re in the market because you’ve recently dropped your iPhone onto the family heirloom rug (or anywhere else) just give us a call. 866-639-8402. We’re here for you.

Take care, Ryan

Terrifying Tuesday Video Blog – Part 2!

Hi again friends of Mission Repair – we are really having a great time this week. Now it’s time for you to get yourself involved and watch this video:

This was about 15 takes in because I kept on laughing. Ok so I admit it, we had a great laugh and most of the outtakes were because of me 😉 If you can’t laugh at yourself, you’re taking life too seriously!

This is a fantastic time to get your device repaired – and receive a gift certificate for your next visit, or even to be given as a gift to a loved one!

Well, stay tuned for tomorrow’s special as we approach the festivities on Thursday. Until then, have a great day.

Ryan

We’re honored that you picked us for this!

Hi again everyone,

Just a quick blog to say that we’ve been featured in a prominent new blog that’s covering our home town of Kansas City. The website, BloggerLocal.com has featured us in their lineup!

So after an in-depth interview with journalist Ben Hartman, the article went up a few days ago. It’s a perfect fit for us since we have really established Mission Repair as the place to visit in Kansas City for iPhone and iPad repairs, even among the heavy competition that keeps popping up.

Well here’s to a great afternoon here in the KC area with fantastic weather today and I’ll be back shortly with a new Mission Repair special.

Best, Ryan

Remember our Superbowl ads in 2012? Just wait to see the new ones in 2013!!

Hello everyone,

It’s getting close the the big day – Superbowl Sunday on February 3rd, 2013. It’s a big day because of course we are going to be able to watch the 2 best teams in Football face off in what looks like is going to be a spectacular matchup. As the playoffs continue, its fun to watch these amazing teams square up. . .and there were some fantastic stories this year with rookie quarterbacks and retiring veterans. And no Chiefs.

It’s also a big day because we at Mission Repair have signed up for another 2 commercials that will air in the Superbowl at halftime! Yes we are currently in production finalizing our new 2-part commercial that will air at halftime during this years 2013 SuperBowl and they are going to be amazing! We have really stepped up our game on this one, no pun intended.

We are excited and we’ve got a huge Superbowl party scheduled at the Arter house. It’ll be a fun day, but more likely a stressful/exciting day as the game develops and the commercials land on our TV screen. As a business owner, there’s a major point of pride during the game and I’m excited to bring another piece of entertainment to you!

Did you miss our 2012 Superbowl commercials? Watch them here!

Is your team still in the Superbowl running?

Have a great day, Ryan

The truth about iPhone 4G network!

Hello all, we were hit this weekend with the new iPhone iOS 5.1 – my son did the update immediately and ran down to show me that he now has 4G on his AT&T iPhone 4S. Yippie! He was thrilled and I was surprised. iPhone running 4G? Could it be true?

My son's iPhone after the iOS 5.1 update!

Apple has been questioned for not offering a device that runs on the nation’s fastest networks -until the recent announcement of the 4G LTE-capable iPad it unveiled last Wednesday. Most people may not know that the iPhone 4S is capable of running on AT&T’s HSPA+ network — a technology that AT&T and T-Mobile both use to advertise their “4G” devices. HSPA+ is essentially 3G technology that’s been enhanced to run speeds close to those of 4G networks, but still runs slower than either LTE or WiMax. I learned about this today, so it was even news to me and I think that I know a thing or two about the iPhone 😉

I’m sure the new label raised questions for AT&T customers that didn’t really know that the iPhone was a “4G” device. Until now, all we’ve seen is that cool little “3G” symbol at the top of our screen. Seeing 4G was a nice surprise.

There’s actually a lot of debate as to what, exactly constitutes 4G since the International Telecommunications Union relaxed its definition in Dec. 2010. Before then, none of the technologies in the United States — LTE, WiMax or HSPA+ — were considered fourth-generation cell networks. Now, they are.

So we ran a simple test with my black iPhone 4 (on the left) and a white iPhone 4S (on the right) to see which was faster loading our GotRepair.com Webpage in Safari. . .

As it turns out, my iPhone 4 was faster in all instances when we were surfing to several different sites than the iPhone 4S running in 4G mode- I cleared the cache on both phones, cleared the history, and of course turned off WiFi. Interesting to say the least.

Since this was a free, seemingly stealthy “overnight” upgrade – who’s going to complain? Well there’s a ton of debate on the internet right now about what is really going on – including rumors that it’s a typo in the code. Frankly, I personally don’t think that this was a mistake and I feel that we’re going to see a “real” iPhone with 4G before we know it!

Feel free to comment if you’ve got any other information to add about this topic!
