Back to school – I just had a moment…

Hello folks,

After my lunch with Brae, it’s Thursday afternoon and it seems like the entire country is going back to school right now; my son Casey was just in my office this morning (he had an interview at the Olathe Police department, kind of cool!) and we were discussing his LAST YEAR of school. He is going to be a Senior this year, and then like some sort of magic – he will be done with school and off to bigger and better things. We aren’t quite sure what that means for him yet…a career in law enforcement? Become a chef? Who knows for sure…but college is in his future and right around the corner.

What I realized is that I just registered my youngest child for his senior year in high school. This is it, no more school registrations for me! I can just remember when I was saying “I can’t wait until I get both of my kids into Kindergarten. That will be great”. Well, not only is my daughter already in her 3rd year of college (holy moly) but my son is finishing High School this year. Simply amazing.

I can tell that the entire country is in “Back to School” mode and it pretty much effects everyone, even those without children. I’ve seen a ton of Facebook posts today and many kids are starting back up already! Casey goes back next Thursday to begin the first day of his last year of school, and I know he’s 50% excited and 50% dreading that summer is already over.

We’re in the Back to School Spirit here at Mission Repair too. In fact, Melanie and I are working on a Newsletter that will release this afternoon with an awesome back to school special. We know you’re busy, and we can seen by our huge increase in orders that families are scrambling to get devices fixed before the school year (in fact, the school IT departments are back from vacation and sending in Purchase Orders like crazy!) and we want to help if we can. Our Newsletter special will help offset some of the costs that families might be incurring with all of the back to school madness. Want to be a part of the Newsletter blast? Just sign up here and you’ll get a copy later today!

Thanks again for reading everyone, and I’ll be back this afternoon in your email inbox with the Mission Repair “Back To School” special!

Take care, Ryan

Where are the minutes going? Sprint!

Hello friends-

I’ve been an iPhone user for years. In fact I actually use two cell phones, one is an iPhone and I also use a Samsung Galaxy SIII (yes, there are specific reasons for this)…but I recently changed my carrier to Sprint from AT&T. Since I switched, I noticed something interesting:

When I was on AT&T and when I made a call, the second counter would only begin when a call was connected. I would dial; wait a bit and if the call went through, then the counter started.

This is NOT the case with my Sprint service. Interesting. So the time counter starts immediately upon dialing my office number and you can hear in my video, my automated message “connects” at about 9 seconds on the counter. This could be a sticky situation. I haven’t actually compared my invoice from Sprint to the number of calls that are placed but I wonder if this is an issue of “fractions of a minute” that add up on one’s bill.

Remember the movie “Office Space”? “Fractions of a penny” being diverted and over time add up to a couple hundred thousand dollars? What could “fractions of a minute” add up to over millions of customers?

Well in Sprint’s defense, I have not yet verified if I am being charged for minutes that never connect or if these fractions are rounding my connected calls to an additional minute…but since my phone is recording these seconds differently than my AT&T phone, I just find it interesting that this is different per carrier. Give it a try and let me know what you think!

If you’ve got my cell phone number, give me a call ๐Ÿ˜‰

Take care, Ryan

Mission:Complete! We’re opening Monday!

Hello friends-

It’s been a long road but we made good time…Mission Repair Express is going to open Monday morning, St. Patrick’s Day, 3/17/14! Yes, now I can look forward no longer painting for a while ๐Ÿ˜‰

welcometomission

We’ve got some surprises in store for you, and we know that many of you have been waiting for us to open this new store. In fact, we’ve received several calls setting appointments for Monday; however remember that appointments are not necessary and we are open 7 days a week to serve you. We are at 5604 Johnson Drive in Mission, Kansas. Get it? “Mission, Kansas?” Yes, it’s perfect.

Mission Repair in Olathe is still going strong, but customer demand has driven this new location. We encourage you to stop on by and check us out. If you do pop in on Monday, we’re handing out $15 off coupons (no purchase necessary) for your next visit in the future (if you ever need us). Tell us what you think about the new store – what kind of accessories you’d like us to carry, what kind of services you’d like us to perform, or any other general inquiries or ideas are welcome.

So I’m happy to announce that we are on final cleanup and walk through this weekend. In fact, I’m sitting at the front desk typing this blog from the new Express location this afternoon and it feels great!

Thanks for your patience, the service lab is open on St. Patrick’s Day…and the party favors are on us!

Have a great weekend, Ryan

Mission Repair Express Update-

Hello friends-

Where have I been? I know it’s been a bit since my last blog, but I have an excuse. I’ve been working around the clock on our very first retail store that located in Mission, Kansas.

Mission Repair Express.

I’m back at our corporate headquarters today for a bit just to catch up on some emails and get a blog or two posted. Here’s a sneak peak at some of the progress at the new shop:

IMG_0675

I’m not going to show you everything yet ๐Ÿ˜‰ but it’s going to be completed and buttoned up on Sunday of this week! That means that we will be ready to open on Monday, St. Patrick’s Day, with a little luck of the Irish. The final cleanup and walk-through happens Sunday night so we were able to complete the project sooner that expected and we even came in under budget. All positives from my perspective.

However, when I say “we will be open”…we will be open. But a lot of the retail accessories, spare parts and cases will arrive later in the week. We will be open for repairs, consultations, advice and diagnosis on your ailing device. Will we be repairing on Monday? You betcha. Bring that cracked iPhone into us and we’ll take care of it for you with SAME DAY service!

This is the next chapter in the Mission Repair story and I’m glad you’re here with me. It’s been a hard run working late nights, managing the headquarters and keeping the standards of Mission Repair high. I’m going to let you in on a little tidbit as well – I’ll be working at the new location on Monday 3/17/14 but then taking a few days of vacation starting Tuesday. I’m just going to sleep for a few days, maybe even get caught up on some of my favorite TV shows that I’ve been missing. Some rest and relaxation are in order.

Our official ribbon cutting ceremony will be on April 1st, 2014 but don’t hesitate to stop in the store starting Monday of next week to say hello.

Many specials and discounts coming in the next couple of days to coincide with our newest Mission Repair chapter…so stay tuned!

Take care, Ryan
