Technical update about checking out on MissionRepair.com – it’s a good thing!

Attention, Mission Repair customers!

We’ve got a security update completed that we wanted to share, and more importantly, describe how it could impact your online experience with Mission Repair.

In a nutshell, the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI-SSC) earlier this year released FAQs ahead of changes to their data security standards. Among their recommendations, the Security Council heavily encouraged hosting providers to upgrade its Transport Layer Security (TLS) as soon as possible.

With security as one of our top priorities, our IT team worked to implement this update, and at the end of June, we disabled TLS 1.0 and moved to TLS 1.2 so we can continue to exceed PCI certification requirements and ensure all of our customer data remains safe.

What does this update mean for you?

Overall, the impact to your experience on MissionRepair.com was small. The main area to prepare for is in terms of any shoppers who try to access our site using Internet Explorer 10 or lower. These users will still be able to access the site without issue, but will receive an error message when visiting secure pages, such as our one page checkout where you’d type in your credit card information. Please note that a very small percentage of web traffic comes from these older browsers, so it most likely won’t even affect you at all.

Customers and administrators who want to continue using Internet Explorer 10 or lower can easily do so with just a few changes to their browser settings:

  • -On the Internet Explorer main menu, select Tools > Internet Options.
  • -In the Internet Options box, select the Advanced tab.
  • -In the Security category, uncheck Use SSL 3.0 and check Use TLS 1.0, Use TLS 1.1, and Use TLS 1.2 (if available).
  • -Click OK
  • -Exit and restart Internet Explorer

  • If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact our Support team for more information.

    Thanks, Ryan

It’s almost Halloween, and we’ve got a special that’s perfect for the occasion.

On October 31st, 2015 you can receive 15% off your order when you visit one of our locations just for wearing a costume! Now, let’s discuss what a costume is. For example, if you’re a Police Officer, you can’t come in with your uniform on and say “I’m a Police Officer for Halloween”, that won’t work…sorry Tony B!

We are looking for creativity, and anyone in a great costume that lets us take a picture of them might also be published on our blog to be read by millions. Interested in stopping by Saturday? We will be handing out candy to the little ones (a safe way to trick or treat!) and giving an awesome 15% discount to anyone that is dressed in a costume. Come on by!

15% off for walk-ins on Saturday 10/31/15 from 10am – 5pm, no coupon needed, but a costume is required!

    Have a Happy Halloween!
    Ryan

(Offer cannot be combined with any other coupon, including Got Repair. Valid on NEW orders only. Valid 10/31/15 10:00am – 5:00pm.)

The Holiday Season is Upon Us. Really?

    Good morning fellow shoppers,

I was reading my daily news and came across an article titled “Retailers aim to win over consumer wallets this holiday season”.

Wow the talk of the Holiday Season is already here and as a consumer myself, I’m slightly nervous that retailers are aiming to win over my wallet. I mean, this is MY wallet. Will I fall for the gimmicks? Probably…

Let the countdown begin. While Halloween festivities don’t kick off until this weekend, retailers around the country are already planning for holiday shopping, with Christmas a mere eight weeks away. REMINDER: Don’t wait until the last minute!

According to the article, Deutsche Bank’s Torsten Slock has an optimistic outlook on spending. In a note Monday, Slock said he expects the holiday season to be strong for retailers, based on a Gallup survey from earlier this month, which showed that consumers intend to spend an average of $812 on gifts this holiday season, the highest level since 2007 at $909.

Ok, so if I want to average the rest of the country, I need to come up with $812 extra dollars in the next 8 weeks. That seems tough when I open my precious wallet and see $43 in it 😉 Maybe this is a year that I’ll make “home made” gifts! Time to get crafty!

Well, I’m sure that the Arter Household will have a fine Holiday Season; I’m even already planning my Thanksgiving menu that starts with a request for French Toast in the morning. More on my famous French Toast later…

I’ll be back soon, but don’t forget that cooler temperatures and Holiday Cheers are just around the corner; it was kind of a shocker when I let it sink in this morning!

    Take care, Ryan

Almost there, I’d give it just a few more minutes!

    Good evening,

It’s not often that I write blogs in the wee hours of the evening (this is my special sleeping time on most nights!) but I’m anxiously awaiting our Unique Visitor counter to roll over to 1,000,000!! I wonder if it will do it?

Or will it turn over like a car odometer and go back to 1? Are we Y2K compliant? Yikes, who knows!! If there’s a stock market crash tomorrow, don’t blame the Mission Repair Blog…

At the moment it appears that we just need a few more readers (less than 100!) to view the blog…then I’m giving away a brand new iPad Air. That’s right, you still have time to learn about the giveaway (click here for details!) but I’ll stay up and watch for the winner. I will announce the winner right here tomorrow morning, so come back to see if you’ve won.

I’m rooting for you, thanks for reading, I’ll be right here.

    Take care, Ryan

    The millionth day is coming!

I’ve been talking abut it all year and it’s probably true that this is more important to me that anyone else, but we are approaching 1 million unique visitors and reads on the Mission Repair Blog (that you’re reading right now!) and as of today we are getting very close:

Screen Shot 2015-10-07 at 11.02.36 AM

This month marks a very special place in our history, and our Repair Blog will reach 1 million unique visitors sometime in the next few days. At the inception of the blog several years ago, I didn’t realize the time commitment and dedication it takes to reach such an astounding number of people. These are people just like you, and I thank you for reading it. If you’re not already a subscriber, you can preview the blog here and subscribe if you’d like!

On the “Millionth Day” (as I’m calling it), we will be celebrating with some great specials, announcements, and prizes. I will be watching closely and as of today, October 7nd, 2015, we are currently at almost 998,000 reads and counting. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to write and you’ll have to check the blog for the never-before-seen specials and giveaways that will appear very shortly. See you there, it will be a cyber party and I’m going all out!

So I’m still contemplating about a giveaway. What would you be most interested in? An iPad maybe? How about a new iPhone? Recently we donated a GoPro camera to a worthy cause and that seemed to be a huge hit. No matter what it is, I’ll announce it soon so check back here often if you want to get in on the action!

    Take care, Ryan
