It’s prom time, and Casey isn’t immune.

Hi friends, do you remember going to prom? I do…

Here’s my son Casey and his girlfriend at his Junior Prom last weekend, the pictures just came through on the prom website. Is he going to “love” that I posted this here on the Mission Repair blog? Nope. I will certainly hear about it tonight…but it’s not intended to make fun of him or to in any way demean the experience; my prom(s) were memorable and exciting!

It’s that time of year – that time that the “tuxedo guys” are doing some great business and all of the hair stylists are booked up on the weekends.

So Casey, good job buddy – you’ve just made an excellent life memory. You will look back at this picture and laugh at your hair, or your tux, or your something else…I guarantee it. If I had the guts I’d post a picture of my 80’s Junior prom, but I don’t. I’ll keep that to myself but all I have to say is “mullet” and we’ll leave it at that!

So to honor all of the prom goers that are out there this month, we’re going to run a 15% coupon today through Easter Sunday 4/20/14 at Midnight on our Mission Repair website. Just use coupon code “casey” when checking out online or when calling in your order. If you walk into one of our locations, print this blog and hand it to your sales representative for an instant 15% savings on your new order. This coupon cannot be combined with any other coupon. You’re going to need that iPhone to take pictures!

Get that boutonnière ordered!

Where are the minutes going? Sprint!

Hello friends-

I’ve been an iPhone user for years. In fact I actually use two cell phones, one is an iPhone and I also use a Samsung Galaxy SIII (yes, there are specific reasons for this)…but I recently changed my carrier to Sprint from AT&T. Since I switched, I noticed something interesting:

When I was on AT&T and when I made a call, the second counter would only begin when a call was connected. I would dial; wait a bit and if the call went through, then the counter started.

This is NOT the case with my Sprint service. Interesting. So the time counter starts immediately upon dialing my office number and you can hear in my video, my automated message “connects” at about 9 seconds on the counter. This could be a sticky situation. I haven’t actually compared my invoice from Sprint to the number of calls that are placed but I wonder if this is an issue of “fractions of a minute” that add up on one’s bill.

Remember the movie “Office Space”? “Fractions of a penny” being diverted and over time add up to a couple hundred thousand dollars? What could “fractions of a minute” add up to over millions of customers?

Well in Sprint’s defense, I have not yet verified if I am being charged for minutes that never connect or if these fractions are rounding my connected calls to an additional minute…but since my phone is recording these seconds differently than my AT&T phone, I just find it interesting that this is different per carrier. Give it a try and let me know what you think!

If you’ve got my cell phone number, give me a call 😉

Harvester’s food drive and Mission Repair deal of the day!

Hello friends of Mission Repair –

If you didn’t receive our newsletter on Friday, then you have no idea that we are having an amazing food drive that is far exceeding my expectations already this morning. In addition, we actually even received a cash donation from a customer that brought in an iPhone for repair. The generosity of the public is overwhelming.

In fact, if you visit us today and bring a canned food item that we will donate to the Harvesters of Kansas City, we will give you 15% off of any repair. Just check out the details here.

There’s been a line at times up in the front office but rest assured that we are trying to do our best to make sure that not only the families of Mission Repair have a good Thanksgiving day, others around the city will too. Bring in the donation (you don’t need to buy anything from us to do so) and we will deliver the batch of goods to the Kansas City Harvesters tomorrow. I’ll personally take the delivery to them and double the amount of goods donated.

It feels good to give when others are in need, and you can feel good to while also enjoying 15% off of that iPhone repair today.

Take care, Ryan
