School is out!

Hello friends, school is out!

Well it is here in Kansas anyway. My daughter Tayler finished her second year of college this week and she’s on her hiatus until the fall. My son Casey finished his Junior year of high school and shot me a text yesterday at 11:36am saying “I’m done!” It’s also apparent as several of our customers this morning had their children with them when visiting us here at Mission Repair- Summer Vacation is upon us. My wife Dandra who is an Elementary school librarian, is officially on Summer break today at noon. Yup, I’m a bit envious.

We don’t get to take summers off here at Mission Repair 😉

I spoke to my oldest friend Nolan who still lives in California and he said that his kids are still in school for a couple more weeks…so it’s just starting to happen around the country.

This means summer vacations, BBQ cookouts, family time and nice weather (hopefully) for the most of us, with thoughts of splashing in the water – that just sounds good.

Personally I’ve got “boating” on the mind and we’re jazzed up to get some sunshine soon. This Memorial Day Weekend marks the beginning of summer for a lot of us and as of right now it appears that I have 3 days off without anything planned which is a first! We all need to take a break from time to time.

Whatever your plans are I hope you spend a little time enjoying your weekend. We have a great newsletter going out this afternoon with a special attached for anyone that might need our services over the weekend; so stay tuned and have a great day.

Take care, Ryan

Hello iPhone and Happy Anniversary!

Hello M:R Nation –

It was today, 7 years ago that many of us around the world sat and watched/read history in the making. With these following words, life as we know it changed:

“Today, we’re introducing three revolutionary products. The first one is a widescreen iPod with touch controls. The second is a revolutionary mobile phone. And the third is a breakthrough Internet communications device. So, three things: a widescreen iPod with touch controls, a revolutionary mobile phone, and a breakthrough Internet communications device. An iPod, a phone, and an Internet communicator. An iPod, a phone…are you getting it? These are not three separate devices. This is one device. And we are calling it iPhone. Today, Apple is going to reinvent the phone.” -Steve Jobs

It’s hard for us at Mission Repair not to have an emotional attachment to this day. For few of us old timers (relatively speaking) we can clearly remember taking a break from repairing the ever so popular 4th generation iPod, huddling around a computer, reading the updates and vigorously hitting the refresh button, so we could finally get a glimpse of what everyone at the time wanted so badly for Apple to produce!

Fast forward 7 years later and you can clearly see how this announcement affected everyone in the world. Yes, everyone! You are either an iPhone user or you use a smartphone that was produced by a company pushed so hard by Apple to come up with a competitive alternative just to stay in business. You only have Apple to think for your awesome Samsung GS4, because without this announcement at Macworld Expo 2007, we would all still be using flip phones.

On a side note, did you know that Mission Repair, to this day still offers repairs for the original iPhone? This is true! We have multiple folks per week needing to mend their piece of history.

To this day, the original iPhone is my favorite Apple product ever released. I regret selling mine off to buy the then, newly released iPhone 3G. I would love to have one in working condition so I can share that history with my children when they are grown. In the world of ever changing technology, this little device truly started it all. Happy Anniversary, iPhone!

Cheers, Troy

New Year Resolutions!

Good day folks, I was just sitting here in my office planning the rest of the week out and noticed that it’s almost 2012. Yikes! Time flies when you’re having fun.

So have you been thinking about your New Years Resolutions?

If you’re stumped, just print this list out and carry it with you. It’s a NO FAIL way to have a happy and productive 2012:

1. Exercise more. I know that this is a common one, but it’s truly the key to a better life.
2. Learn something new. Try it, it’s fun to take up a new hobby or acquire a skill that you never had, even if it seems simple or pointless.
3. Drink more water. I’m not kidding with you, drink more water and it doesn’t matter how much you’re drinking now.
4. Have that iPhone repaired. You’ve been using it cracked for some time now, give Mission Repair a call and have it taken care of!

So there you have it- the keys to a happy 2012. Do you have something that I should add to this list? Just let me know!

Thanks, but seriously have a great New Year Holiday this weekend.

Best, Ryan

You asked for it, you got it. We’re open on Saturday!

Hello all,

Ok, I admit it. I like working 9-5, Monday through Friday. But frankly it’s the same hours as everyone else and it makes it tough at times for our local customers to get to our office during the week.

Our local presence has really picked up and we typically have a line in the lobby waiting for service. I can hear many customers wanting Saturday hours, so we’re going to make that change! We’ve expanded all of our hours so we are going to be here for you when you need us. To see our Mission Repair business hours click here!

It’s official, starting tomorrow you’ll be able to reach us at the office. Come on down!

Best, Ryan

Mission Repair Open House = Success!!

Hello everyone. It’s been a heck of a day here at Mission Repair. . .we are wrapping up our open house and we had a fantastic turnout of folks that flowed through from about 11am to 3pm. . .I didn’t have a formal count but every time I turned around there was a new group of faces waiting to meet us (100’s of faces today!). Thanks to everyone that attended and made this day a special one for us!! We started the day with a ribbon cutting and the entire company gathered up to take a pic:

After the outdoor event (what a beautiful day too!) we opened up the doors to the business. First stop. . .Mickey the Cotton Candy Man in the lobby. I was able to get first draw on some fresh candy:

Then we moved up to the Mission Repair cafe for a hot catered lunch and drinks:

Finally, as the grand finale, we gave away several prizes including the new legendary iPod Touch Gen 4 with Facetime. Yeah, it was a great event! To be brutally honest, when I organize these types of things it’s very time consuming and distracting. Sometimes I even wonder if it’s worth doing. Then the day arrives, the turnout was great, I made a lot of new friends, and we were even able to take in about 40% more walk-in repairs today than normal.

More importantly though, my employees were able to participate, take a little time to hang around during the workday and have a meal as a group. Without them, this business is nothing. As a business owner, it’s easy to get wrapped up in the stress of “business” and as we all know, life in general. It’s also easy to take your employees for granted – I know, I’ve been taken for granted and even taken advantage of by others I’ve worked with. Mission Repair is built around pride, confidence, understanding and trust. From my perspective, it’s how the world should work. I’m trying my best.

I want to give a special thank you to the Esau family for showing up as a force. It’s good to have “my house” filled with great people!

Thanks, talk to you soon, Ryan

P.S. That 20% coupon for repairs today is still good until midnight! See my previous blog post for details!
