Apple 1:1 School Repair Program at Mission Repair

Hello there friends,

We’ve got a lot to talk about as we have made some simple changes in our Apple One to One School Repair program – if you didn’t already know, we offer repairs to schools around the country to assist in their efforts to maintain student devices.

Not only is this something that we have been doing for over 8 years (even before the One to One Program was released) and we’re happy to report that we are providing services for even some “Apple-Distinguished Schools” as time has progressed.

Why?  It’s a matter of economics.  There are scenarios that Mission Repair is a far better fit for some school districts than AppleCare.  Apple has done a good job of selling units and service programs, but they don’t do something that Mission Repair does, and that’s offer a better price on a service for a unit that has already been repaired once before.

It’s called our Got Repair program, and it’s the shining light that schools are looking for.

The best part about it is that even if you use our services as an “end user”, you get the Got Repair benefit automatically on our screen repairs.  Just check it out on our site, and you may know why Mission Repair stands above the rest.

Take care, Ryan

Nationwide Repairs a Reality!

Hello there blog readers!

For most of you, it’s already common knowledge that we offer repair services to the entire USA, but lets review our mail-in procedures so we can all avoid a few simple unnecessary mistakes that can ruin the process for everyone.

largepackage

Sending in an iPhone?  This box is too big!

1.  You can use our “email label service” that will allow you to print out an address label on a normal sheet of printer paper from your home or office, which you can tape to the outside of your package for shipment INTO Mission Repair!  Of course you can always send your device into us using your own shipping service, but our email label service is easy!

2.  Speaking of packaging, we have a few simple rules that everyone should follow.  Do not send your device into us in an envelope!  Envelopes do not provide enough protection for sensitive electronic devices but if you do use an envelope, you should expect that additional damage will be incurred on the way into Mission Repair, or even loss of the device entirely.  If we receive an empty envelope, there’s not much we can do to help to recover your device.

Use about 2” of padding to protect your device on the way into us and use a box that will be a good size for the device plus the padding.  FedEx, UPS and USPS offer FREE BOXES to those that use the corresponding services.  Remember, if you’re deciding to have that expensive iPhone or iPad repaired, you’re going to want to treat it with respect even if it has a cracked screen.  Once we get it, we’ll take care of that!

3.  If you’re not using our “email label service”, you should insure your package for it’s replacement value.  Remember that even if you insure an iPhone for $1000 and if it’s lost or damaged in shipping, you will only receive the current market value of the device itself – apps, software or “extras” will hold no value; and only if it’s packaged correctly.  So it’s a good idea to do a simple eBay search on your device to see what a current market value would be, then insure your package for that amount.

For more tips and advice on shipping, you can view our shipping instructions on our website here that have been available for 8 years.  The bottom line is that if you follow some simple and easy instructions, your device will be moved from your location, into Mission Repair, and back to you in perfect shape.

Have a great morning, Ryan

Careful, that iPad is dangerous.

Hello friends, I received this email from a customer a few minutes ago – I want to preface that I’ve already asked the customer for permission to post the email here with a general reply to all of my customers in case it may help someone someday:

————————————
“A few days ago I broke my iPad on the kitchen counter. The glass shattered into thousands of tiny little shards. I stupidly swept them into the garbage with my bare hand. I then, more stupidly, brushed my hands together to get rid of any pieces- forgetting that these were bits of glass that could get stuck in my skin. I seems that I got a piece in my finger.

It’s in my thumb, inside of a crease. It looks like a little bump, slightly raised and pink. If I push on it a certain way, it hurts. The little cut the glass made has already scabbed over.

If there is a glass in my hand, could I leave it in there for a few days? I really don’t have time to go to a hospital for a while- but of course, if it’s an emergency, I’ll do it. What should I do?”

Firstly – we’re not doctors here at Mission Repair – but if you get a piece of glass in your hand, there are typically simple ways to remove it. While there may or may not be any long-term effects of “leaving” a piece of glass in your skin, I’d certainly say that there is an advantage to getting it out. It’s not supposed to be there, right? However:

What you can do (which we’ve seen multiple customers do) is to cover your broken iPad screen with tape to “stop” the shards of glass from getting into your hands. See the picture above as we received an iPad in this week from one such customer.

You can stop that iPad from being dangerous to an extent by covering it in overlapping clear tape. Typically, the device will still work (at least temporarily) so it gives our customers “time” to get down to see us or send the device into us.
Otherwise, keep you hands clear of the broken glass and all should be good. Any questions about iPad repair? Give us a call. Need medical help? Time to call the doctor!

Take care, Ryan
