The Holiday Season is Upon Us. Really?

Good morning fellow shoppers,

I was reading my daily news and came across an article titled “Retailers aim to win over consumer wallets this holiday season”.

Wow the talk of the Holiday Season is already here and as a consumer myself, I’m slightly nervous that retailers are aiming to win over my wallet. I mean, this is MY wallet. Will I fall for the gimmicks? Probably…

Let the countdown begin. While Halloween festivities don’t kick off until this weekend, retailers around the country are already planning for holiday shopping, with Christmas a mere eight weeks away. REMINDER: Don’t wait until the last minute!

According to the article, Deutsche Bank’s Torsten Slock has an optimistic outlook on spending. In a note Monday, Slock said he expects the holiday season to be strong for retailers, based on a Gallup survey from earlier this month, which showed that consumers intend to spend an average of $812 on gifts this holiday season, the highest level since 2007 at $909.

Ok, so if I want to average the rest of the country, I need to come up with $812 extra dollars in the next 8 weeks. That seems tough when I open my precious wallet and see $43 in it 😉 Maybe this is a year that I’ll make “home made” gifts! Time to get crafty!

Well, I’m sure that the Arter Household will have a fine Holiday Season; I’m even already planning my Thanksgiving menu that starts with a request for French Toast in the morning. More on my famous French Toast later…

I’ll be back soon, but don’t forget that cooler temperatures and Holiday Cheers are just around the corner; it was kind of a shocker when I let it sink in this morning!

Take care, Ryan
