Is Apple releasing a Phablet in September?

Hello friends,

I’ve been working with Melanie all day today on promotions, artwork and press content. We started talking about the new iPhone 6 that will be released in a couple of weeks, and I’ve heard several rumors that it’ll be on September 9th…but it’s still open for debate. That’s why it’s a rumor 😉

It appears that the iPhone 6 will certainly come in two sizes. A 4.7″ screen model and a 5.5″ screen model. I just thought about it for a minute…the 5.5″ will be Apple’s first Phablet! I searched a bit around Google and it appears that others have already had this epiphany.

Now that's a phablet!

Now that’s a phablet!

What’s a phablet? According to the ever accurate Wikipedia:

“A phablet (/ˈfæblɪt/), (also known as a phonelet or tabphone or fablet) a portmanteau of the words phone and tablet, is a class of mobile device designed to combine or straddle the functions of a smartphone and tablet. Phablets typically have screens that measure (diagonally) between 5.01 and 6.9 inches (130 to 180 mm), which complement screen-intensive activity such as mobile web browsing and multimedia viewing.”

If Apple unveils the 5.5″ screen – then we will have our first Apple Phone/Tablet in the market.

Then the conversation continued. How do you hold it? Can you stuff it into your back pocket? Will it be more fragile than ever? Well if there’s a will there’s a way – and all of these issues and questions will be answered soon. I do know that this new screen ought to fully satisfy the “small screen” critics when it comes to the iPhone.

Does a 6.9″ screen “phablet” seem reasonable? Is bigger better? Can you imagine trying to sneak a peek at a text during a movie at the theater on a 6.9″ screen? You might blind the person behind you!

I think I might hit up a movie tonight, I’ll remember to turn my phone off 😉

Take care, Ryan

Cement shoes.

Hello again everyone-

Wow, the construction progress is really coming along up at our Mission Repair Express location. I want to apologize for all of you that braved the construction mess yesterday. If you stopped by our Mission, Kansas location for a smartphone repair you saw that the sidewalk directly in front of our store was GONE! The jackhammers came out yesterday morning and drilled all day long.

Today, we have a BRAND NEW BEAUTIFUL sidewalk! The contractors said that we can walk on it in about 2 more hours, so the construction “pain” is almost complete. The issue is that it’s wet now; so if you make the trek in the next hour you might find yourself with some cement shoes. Please be patient – the weather is cooperating with us and it’s HOT outside. My guess is that within a couple of hours it will be ready!

Thanks for your patronage. We had over 50 people walk in to our Mission location yesterday despite the construction; thank you. I promise that it’s almost over!

Best, Ryan

Do you need a new battery in your iPhone 5?

Good morning friends,

There’s a lot of news about the iPhone 5 and it’s battery life lately; so much in fact that Apple has recalled an undisclosed amount of iPhones for a FREE BATTERY installation. You can see if your iPhone 5 is eligible here on Apple’s website. I feel like my battery in my iPhone 5 is terrible recently and I find myself charging my phone several times a day. I checked my personal phone, and Apple says that my battery is not one of the affected units; therefore no free battery for me. In fact, after reading Apple’s website it appears that they will just be swapping phones with their customers (presumably why they ask you to disable “Find my iPhone” and tell you to erase all of your data).

blogfreebattery

I thought about this for a minute…and even though it’s not a Mission Repair Recall, we are going to do Apple customers a favor: We will replace your iPhone 5 Battery for FREE (of you so desire) when you send in your device for a screen repair!

That’s right- this is a Mission Repair exclusive. If you need to have your iPhone 5 screen replaced, just select the “free battery” option when setting up your repair and we will not only repair your screen, but we’ll install a new battery for no additional charge while my technicians have your device in house.

This will help many of you that might be in the same situation as me; your iPhone is over a year old, the battery life is not what it used to be, and you’re not eligible for a free replacement from Apple.

Heck, it might even be a better way to get your battery replaced through Mission Repair; we won’t make you set an appointment to see a “genius” and we won’t “swap” your phone. It’ll come back to you with all of your data, pictures, texts and emails in tact! Just like you left it with us 😉

Take advantage now. This is something new for Mission Repair so we will begin this special today and it will run while supplies last. This is not a “no purchase necessary” special; the free battery replacement can only be selected in conjunction with an iPhone 5 front glass screen repair service (either black or white). Let us know if you have any questions! 866-638-8402.

Which Case Will Protect My Smartphone The Best?

There have been a numerous amount of times where a customer has come to pick up their repaired device and asked ‘Which case do you recommend so my phone’s screen won’t break again?’. Often times that question is followed by talks about brands such as Otterbox and Lifeproof. These cases are very sturdy and will protect your device well but there is always the chance that your screen will still break inside one of these cases. Yes, that’s right. We always have customers walk in with a cracked screen and tell us that it broke even with a Defender Otterbox case on it.

Unfortunately, even the toughest cases can’t protect your device from EVERY circumstance. So my answer to ‘Which case do you recommend?’ just depends on what case you like and which one works for you. If you feel the Otterbox will better protect your device then go for it. If you would rather have a snap on case with a cool design, that’s great too.

So because we know your device is fragile and that accidents can happen Mission Repair is here to help!

We are the #1 Rated Repair Site for 6 years running and our Got Repair Program gives our customers lifetime peace of mind on their device.
