We have to change our Mission repair “workplace accident” sign to “ZERO” accident free days starting today. Until now, we had over 2,000 accident free days at Mission Repair, which is a number that I am truly proud of! I pride myself on having a safe work place… But today marks a day in our company history. Lennie Martin actually pushed a screwdriver through his index finger. In one side, and out the other. I would show you a picture but it’s just a bit to graphic.
It’s interesting timing too, because Matthew Vaughan actually smashed his finger in a wind-blown door while on vacation a couple of weeks ago. So now I have two technicians with faulty index fingers. Here’s a shot of them this afternoon:
Matthew on the left, Lennie on the right.
Even though I’m not terribly proud that I had to rush to the emergency room today with Lennie, I was compelled to take a pic of my battered team members that are pushing though the pain. Matthew has had a couple of surgeries but Lennie’s injury was surprisingly “simple” (the doctor just numbed up his finger, and pulled the screwdriver out. I have it on video, it’s interesting). But it makes me reflect on the fact that we have been very injury free due to our safe environment, good training and scheduled safety meetings.
So let’s hear it for the wounded warriors at Mission Repair that keep fighting the good fight to get your repair right! I hope I don’t have to post another “injury” update blog like this for a long time; but I’ll keep you in the loop!
Thank you, Ryan

Hi friends- happy Tuesday to you!
I’ve been doing a lot of cooking at the house lately. It’s a combination of wanting to save a little money eating out (which does add up fast when I do it) and also trying to eat a little healthier. Last night, I decided to use our cast iron panini pan and try something different. I grilled some chicken cutlets that I marinated in just a little bit of olive oil and fresh basil. This initiated the “smells” in the house as I progressed.
Once those were cooked- I took a splash of olive oil and heated in a pan. Once it was hot, I added 8 cloves of garlic, some crushed red pepper and a jar of sundried tomato. I sauteed those for a bit them added a huge handful of fresh spinach for just a minute or so…
Then I took slices of fresh Italian bread (only 50 calories per slice!) and built my sandwiches. I splurged and added a little bit of fresh mozzarella to keep things “together”, and placed them into the panini pan:
My panini pan has a “lid” that I preheated as well; this way the sandwich cooks on both sides at once, and it’s “smashes” it into a panini. After 4 minutes in the pan:
They came out great! So I added up the calorie count with all of the ingredients, and these beauties are somewhere in the 400 calorie range and were full of flavor. I’ve never made a panini at home (that special pan has been sitting in my cupboard for years now) and I don’t have anything but great reviews making these tasty meals at home. Pair it up with some fresh veggies and fruit and you have an awesome meal.
Why blog about this? It’s my attempt to try to convey a “healthy” lifestyle while simultaneously trying to keep myself to healthy choices when I eat; what’s on the menu tonight? I’ve got some slow roasted pork in the crock pot that we will eat with steamed green beans, fresh pineapple and white rice. I know what I’m having for lunch tomorrow too!
Ok, enough about food. I already ate lunch and now it’s making me hungry again. Remember Ryan – eat better. Stay away from that candy bowl – it’s my Achilles’s heel!
Take care, Ryan
Hello M:R Nation –
Winter is over and that means one thing… ROAD CONSTRUCTION!!! If you are a human being, I’m sure you can attest to the headache that is road work. Of course, while we all know it is for the greater good, it’s still hard to bite our tongue when driving through a congested detour. The word detour is now unfortunately etched into our minds here at Mission Repair until at least mid-July 2014 after receiving this lovely message from the City of Olathe:
EXPECT DELAYS! FULL ROADWAY CLOSURE: Northbound and southbound K-7 will be CLOSED to through traffic between the northbound and southbound I-35 exit ramps for pavement replacement work beginning on Monday, April 28, sometime after morning rush hour, through mid-July 2014. A marked detour will be provided. Traffic will detour via the interchange ramps. Access will be maintained to local businesses throughout the project duration. This portion of the project work is scheduled to be completed in mid-July 2014. (New 4-23-14)
So, after months of bitter coldness, ice and heavy snow, Winter has struck again! All of the salt, sand and snow plowing has finally destroyed that section of road and its time for a face lift! So what does this mean for those that are trying to make their way to our Olathe location? Actually, very little because earlier today I took a trip to the construction zone and formulated a plan for everyone heading this way for a Smartphone, Tablet or Computer repair. This construction will only detour those coming from the North, so if you are visiting us from the south, please proceed as usual!
Although the map is very self-explanatory, let me speak on the finer points. The RED line is where all of the magic is happening. If you have ever driven down this strip of road, you know how awful it really is. The BLUE line is the construction detour. This route will get you to our front door, but please expect a 15 minute delay with the congestion! The GREEN line is the Mission Repair suggested route! This is actually a route that I have taken for years and until now, have kept it all to myself :-). This will place you behind all of the mess and get you to our door very quickly!
As always, if you have any comments, questions or concerns, call (866-638-8402) or email (email@example.com) us at any time!

Hello (for the 400th Time) M:R Nation –
I wanted to drop a quick line to commemorate my 400th blog posting! And I must admit, I really wanted to hit this number today, but ran out of things to talk about.
When Ryan told me a short time ago that he wanted me to start “Blogging”, I really didn’t know what to think or where to start. It has certainly enhanced my creativity and has challenged me more that I every thought it would.
Sure, 400 is a strange number to celebrate, but I find it an attractive number for some reason. So, I guess the only thing left to say is thank you M:R Nation for being such a great audience and here’s to another 400!
