Hello everyone, it’s a HOT HOT HOT Tuesday afternoon here in Kansas City today. I’ve been asking myself all day “why did you wear jeans today Ryan?”
Well, it’s not that I like being hot…just sometimes it’s a matter of “business casual” vs. “very casual”. I like to keep somewhat of a dress code, but days like today quite frankly feel like shorts and flip-flop days!
This morning I was talking to Dandra about recipes and she was taking notes for dinners from her iPhone. She was looking up recipes, then trying to compile them all to make a grocery list…she was going to and from several webpages, and while this is not a bad way to get things done…I was watching her manipulate her iPhone and I said “why don’t you just take a screenshot of that recipe and print it out?”
“Screenshot?”
Yes dear, that nifty little device that you’re holding does more than Pinterest 😉 There’s a simple way to take a snapshot of whatever is on your screen at the time you’re looking at it…then sends an image to your photo folder for you to view, print, email, text or whatever. To many iPhone users, this will seem trivial. But to my iPhone student this morning, it was HUGE news. Let’s take a look at how it’s done:
To take a screenshot with your iPhone or iPod Touch, just press the Home and Sleep buttons at the same time. You’ll get a flash on the screen and the camera shutter sound, and your screen will be captured.
To access your screenshots go to Photos and on the iPhone, look in Camera Roll, while on the iPod Touch, check out Saved Photos. (see, poetically, screenshots after the jump!)
That’s all there is to it. You can even paste shots of them into your blog if you want to!
Once you take the picture of what you want, you can send it off in several ways, view it or just delete it. Screenshots can come in handy when you want to preserve a text or website that you want to see again.
Again, this is iPhone 101 to many of you and I know that I’ll get some backlash about it from a ton of blog readers. Hang in there with me. it was so much of an iPhone 101 “skill”, and my wife didn’t know about it, I had to blog it. Maybe it’ll help someone in the future.
Next up: I’ll blog on “How to make a telephone call from your iPhone”. That will really appeal to a lot of people!!
Ok, enough sarcasm for today, I should be grateful that Dandra’s doing the grocery shopping, right?!?
Have a great evening everyone. Ryan
