Hello all-
We received our first shipment of iPad parts today. Here’s one of the metal internal frames:
Upon opening them up and getting our hands on some of these rare items, we immediately noticed what appears to be a “spot” for a camera within the iPad frame.
Hmmmm.
We pulled a camera from a Unibody MacBook. Just a standard camera unit that we see everyday.
Guess what, it fits right in there. The camera slips in the frame, the lens fits in the hole, the LED that indicates that the camera is on, fits, and the ambient light sensor hole is also correct. It appears that the plans to have camera in the iPad is a reality. I’m looking forward to the iPad. . .Rev 2.

Do you think that this means that since there even appears to be camera support in the OS (according to some what people have discovered from the iPad simulator), that if them DIY tinkerers were to install a macbook camera that one could get it to function on the iPad? I assume one would need to see the logic board on this thing to find out if the proper I/O exists to connect the cables and whatnot… still, the possibilities seem interesting if the iPad turns out to be as easy to open up as the iPhone is…

I only heard of the iPad for the first time last week. I am still on the skeptical side after reading the blog it makes me question the product. Is it strange for a flaw to appear on something that was so anticipates? Also how good is this products usability compared to the standard PC.

As it stands ATM. I love my iPhone’s (original and gs). I would never pay for a Mac computer. (lack of appropriate software and selection/competitively priced hardware are the main issues). Apple ipad news
I am very interested in buying an iPad though but I was also seriously BITTEN by Apple’s “first adopter’s” folly when I bought one of the very first iPhones then watched the price drop $200 within days and was “blessed” with a $200 gift certificate redeemable at the iTunes store that was good for anything they sold that was NOT very useful. I also bought an iPod one day, paying full price only to see the new model come out the next day. TYVM Steve Jobs. So… In retrospect, I will wait at LEAST until iPad v 2.0 comes out.
